I posted this at Modiphius' forums a few minutes ago, and it may give someone here some happy nitpicky moments:
I preordered too (one of the PDF collection offers), but after that runs its course prices like that could get mighty tempting when I'm not looking for a hardcover version.
True, that. I might try my hand at homebrewing some of the missing 24th-century classes, but I want to hold back on the ENT era until I have a better feel for the process. Not a lot to compare to....
Really, really amazing full-color illustrations. Think of ship artists like Tobias Richter and Dave Metlesits. In fact, think of Tobias Richter and Dave Metlesits.
I'm particularly fond of the refit rules. I can't think of many better ways to make the "grand old ladies" of the Fleet look competitive against a brand-spanking-new ship.
I've never seen an "official" correction for either of these. For Communications, I'd say that Computer (choose specialization) 2 (3) makes perfect sense. For Security, I'm going with 3 more points...
The only significant difference I can think of is that the starbase rules from the DS9 core book might be useful. Otherwise, the content is very similar, just tailored for each series.
Congratulations! (Now stop flying so low over my building!)
You have a baby due? I hope for your sake that Mom doesn't read that...
Unofficial motto: "All the good stuff is cloaked."
That Ops Deck for Starbase 21 is so cool, you could keep a side of beef in it for a month!
I've always liked the advanced training programs, but I'm pretty sure I'd do a heavy rewrite for a 23rd-century game. I like the idea that ships (and thus personnel) are pretty isolated, so I picture...
Well, in the sense that his programmer made several appearances on the show...
I see your point. The boxy "saucer" section just doesn't do it for me.
I dunno, from Starfleet's point of view this may be a feature and not a bug....
The last one is original BG.
Actually both of those are pretty system-specific crunch-free...or, in the case of Worlds, the crunch is all self-contained. Good readin'. (And I know what you mean...it still doesn't seem quite...
Good thinking. I'd always figured that if I wanted to do a Mirror Universe adventure I could pick a parallel MU where the Empire was still kicking (or is the DS9 MU the parallel MU where the Empire...
Last I heard, Perot was still alive and busy trying to get a book published. Something about Rules of Acquisition or something. :D
That's the thing about the riot phaser--it only vaguely looks like a gun. More of a "super-dustbuster" if you ask me.
As for personal shields, the LUG TNG Player's Guide actually introduces them...
Very nice. I kind of wish they'd have gone with the "riot gun" concept for TNG instead of that boxy phaser rifle.
