Question Star Trek X - The Movie

Does anyone know the plot? Any speculation on it? Any ideas on how it should go. Anyone?

Hey, its got Romulans in it. Other than that I don't have a clue- yet. And don't believe anything you don't see at an official site.

the latest from the "official" site

The John Logan "interview" is pretty interesting, if nothing more for the idea that there's going to be a big villain.

I heard that Data is a gonna die. Brent Spiner has said many times that this is to be his last Trek film - and besides - how are they going to explain him getting older as the years go by.

No offense, James, but the "Data's Dying in the movie!" rumor has been floating around for years. It first started before Generations and rears its head every time a new TNG movie is in the works...

I always considered the "getting to old for the part" bit a little hokey, esp with the possibility of it being the last movie he stars in.

It can't be helped since Brent Spiner commented that he wanted his Data character to die in the last film.

After having worn that same old makeup over and over and over again, it must feel like wearing your Underoos from age 10 to 30. Hehehe.

Good point . . . but we have seen Data change his appereance, "All good things . . ." ST:TNG. So the character can continue . . . I mean it's just a cover people . . . as long as he remembers to turn off his emotion chip . . . he can get a new skin to look like almost any huminoid he wants.

But I gotta wonder . . . since this is evolves the Romulans . . . what will the plot be? Any ideas out there?

I mean the last interaction in ST that we've had with the Romulans was there attempted stealing of the USS Pormethues (sorry if I spelled that wrong), and the Tal Shiar putting in a new leader.

Can you imagine how a battle with several Warbirds against the Enterprise-E would look like (ohhhhhh . . . explosions :-) ).

Several Warbirds!?! Do you not like the new Big E or something. 2-3 would polish the Enterprise off in no time. Several...We're talkin' space dust here.

But, I am looking forward to see what they will do with the Romulans, it's about time they got center stage for once...Klingons and Cardies are getting real boring real fast. I'm thinking they will set the stage on the future of the alliance with the Empire in the next movie.

Myself, I hope they don't go all buddy-buddy on us, 100 years of animosity can't be wiped out in a single pen stroke. After all the Romulans have very long memories.

Well since Logan is a fan like us; hopefully he'll be true to form with good action and continuality.

Not a vital system! What the heck do you think stops the ship going 'poof' every time it goes to warp?

Just gotta correct you about last role of the Romulans in ST. They were last seen (And I don't mean assimilated or EMH varieties on that infernal Intrepid class either) in the last episode of DS9 allied with the Klingon/Federation forces to end the Dominion War circa 2375. Ross even mentions the Romulans lost their "flagship" and that their line was collapsing just before the Cardies turned against the Dominion ships. The Prometheus incident, in which Starfleet learns of Voyagers presence in the Delta Quadrant via the EMH, occurred in 2374. Section 31 director Sloan believed that the Romulans would be the next threat to Federation security and that with the weakened Cardassian and Klingon forces on the mend that Starfleet may even go toe to toe with their old nemesis the "so predictably
treacherous" Romulans. There likely would be some mention of the alliance with the Romulans during the Dominion War in Trek X and even possibly a flashback scene which may play some revelance to the film like Picard's flashbach to when he was Locutus in First Contact.

Hmmm . . . I thought with the passing of time that current ST: VOY followed the same passage of time as in ST: DS9. But has anyone actually gotten official Canon data on this? That would solve the situation.

Yes, I agree that the alliance will play a big part of the development of intergalactic relations for all the major players in the system (Romulans, Klingons, Federation) (Dominion not in quadrent, CU in shambles, and other races region powers (like how SA, India, and China are today (China, cause it has limited long range capabilites (for now)))).

But would the Romulans be such a threat? I mean they didn't put their full weight into the war, but there losses, as stated by ADM Ross [***] <------Rank would mean that they are considerably weaker than before. Furthermore, as stated by Wyon (however, you spell that Vortas name) he did suggest a front along the Romulan boarder stating that they had little defenses on their boarder.

As far as the comment went with the mulitple D'deridex Warbird v the Enterprise-E have any of you read that one series written by Shatner (what an arragant . . .) printed after Generations . . . there a Galaxy Class vessel riped one in two by putting all power to the forward shields and putting all SIF power at the tip of the saucer section creating practically a knife . . . of course I don't think that would work with SD rules . . . but it's an interesting idea . . . and would make for GREAT photage in a movie.

But I would have to agree with you that it would be a rather bloody battle . . . even just against one . . . but let us not forget our little friends (the SAFs, wouldn't that be great if they expanded on that in ST:X . . . hehe), but chances of that is slim to none.
