(These are just some ideas I have had to spice up the uniform introduced in First Contact. The date of the changes are in 2382, the date, which I have chosen to begin, my hope fore and upcoming E-based DS9 era series/game.)
DUTY UNIFORM
The Duty Uniform of the game is still the uniform introduced during DS9’s mid forth season and in First Contact. However some changes have been made which alter the uniform greatly. Among these has been the reintroduction of the older branch colors, which had been done away with when the new general duty uniform was introduced in 2355 with some minor changes.
The expansion of the number of branches from three to nine has been accomplished as follows:
Black - Engineering
Blue – Science*
Forrest Green - Security
Orange – Quartermaster
Red – Command/Line
Kelly Green – Intelligence
Buff – Medical
White – Command/Admiral
Yellow/Mustard – Operations
* As traditionally practiced by Starfleet all Social Science personal, especially those assigned to the command department/divisions of their starship/base continue to be authorized to wear Red instead of Blue as their branch color.
A new duty sweater has been introduced to provide an alternative to the duty jacket. It can be either of pull over or of a cardigan pattern with four buttons in the front. The lighter duty vest must be worn with the Cardigan pattern sweater.
Female members of any race wishing to do so my wear a black knee length skirt with the newly introduced duty sweaters with black or neutral colored stockings with an appropriate matching shoe style approved by the wearers commanding officer. Boots of any size or pattern are prohibited for wear with the skirt at all times.
DRESS UNIFORMS
Dress Uniforms of the same pattern introduced in 2373 will continue to be in place with the following changes and alterations. The undershirt will be as follows:
White – Senior Officers
Gray – Senior Supporting officers
All other officers and enlisted will wear there prescribed branch color shirt beneath the 2373 Dress Jacket.
Female members of all races are allowed to wear at their desire either the knee length skirt or an ankle length-skirt both to be black and trimmed with a ½ inch bead of material in a color matching the wearers branch color. In the case of the short skirt, stockings of either black or white color are approved for wear. Boots of any size or pattern are prohibited for wear with the skirt at all times.
All dress pants will be trimmed along the seam with a ½ inch bead of material in the wearers branch color or that matching the dress undershirt.
(in case your wondering, I have always felt that the three colors were limiting to an extent. Proven since most introduced the forrest green Security color for Marines and such along time ago. But what of the others?
Orange for Quartermaster, simple 1.) the Merchant marines use the color, and 2.) with a war like the Dominion War Logistics and such needs probabaly would aquire a new status in Starfleet.
The others came from the old movie era colors so I just added them with a few changes.)

But, Eric, chicks look HOT in boots and short skirts...
On a (slightly) more serious note, why are skirts limited to females? You wouldn't dare tell Scotty he couldn't wear his kilt with his dress uniform, would you?

LUGTrek isn't really dead. Not as long as we remember it.
This is still in the process of being formed after I posted this last night I even made up a Maternity Duty Uniform! It is my intent to have a section on Class D's that for outlines a policy on uniform items for traditional reasons. Other things like the Bajoran Earrings, Tiburonese Arm bands and the like are now also allowed to be worn with the Duty Uniform.
I have to say that while I will ignore the alternate colours for my game (which admittedly is not set so far ahead anyway...)
I am very interested in reading your take on cultural affectation and duty and dress uniforms...
I am going to go with the Boots and miniskirt school of thought on the uniforms too...
As for Scottys kilt, I am fairly sure that it would classify under 'cultural affectations'... (besides how many scots do you know that refer to a kilt as a skirt outside of a joke...). But the guy in the background of First Season TNG that wore a miniskirt...
I'd like to go back to my idea of departamental pips instead of branch colors. In the old 'colors' thread I suggested pips with the same motives the modern militaries use in their badges nowadays. But nobody followed my train of thought. I think it wouldn't be as confusing, and you could get even more departamental divisions in this way.
Eitherway Eric's proposition looks nice

Chakotay: You didn't poison my coffee, did you?
Janeway: Not any more than I usually do. "The Voyager Conspiracy", Voyager
Which is easier? "Sniper, take out those scientists way down there." "Which ones are those?"
1) "The ones in blue."
2) "The ones with the science pin on their lapel, use your sniper-sight to zero in so you can determine how many pips are on their collar before shooting" "But they're all running around!" :-)
Anyway, as for chicks and boots I must agree with Sarge.
