It must be the "Great Barrier At The Edge Of The Galaxy"!
(At last, a way to gain "Godlike Power" (tm) is now within my grasp! Except, of course for that whole "It's millions of light years away" thing...)

Well, since most maps of the Galaxy only show stars, and this arm is hydrogen, only a few specialty maps will need to be redrawn for this. 'Course, IIRC, a few years back they determined that the Galaxy was a barred spiral rather than a simple spiral, didn't they. Seems to me that would require more of a redrafting.
