I need a name for my PCs ship (they decided that instead of being on the Enterprise they would rather have their own ship, I agree).
I am desperate for suggestions.
Anyone?

U.S.S. Desperado?
OK, more seriously, do you have any strong themes in mind for the game or the ship? Picked a ship class yet?

Republic, Intrepid, Agincourt, Vanguard, Athabasca...all names I have used for ships. I would also add Trafalgar, but that one keeps getting blown up for some reason...

Al-Sayad, Peder Wessel, Niels Juel, Olfert Fischer, Olaf Rye, Mjölner, Vasa...
Bear in mind that the entire Human population of the Federation does not come from England or the US. :
The first means "The Hunter". Second through fourth are Danish naval heroes, fifth is a Danish general that died in battle (1849), sixth is the Swedish spelling of Thor's Hammer, seventh is a Swedish warship that sank on its maiden voyage, before leaving the Harbor of Stockholm, where it was built.
Perhaps a bit populistic, but Pat Tillman comes to mind, if you want something unusual, but still related to the US.

I can't use Lexington, since I promised Captain Stocker's player that I wouldn't.
Vanguard is good.
I am thinking of USS Nautilus. With the dedication "... comme l'aiguille du voilier ā travers la toile!"
I agree. But I am not an American and while I feel sympathy for Pat Tillman, I would not name my ship after him.Originally posted by keronn

I now have two names.
Lincoln and Nautilus
Keep 'em coming folks!
Argos, Odyssey, Sagen, Hokulea, Magellan, Monitor...
Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

Aslan, don't forget about naming your shuttles! This is always more problematic for me. All the good names are almost always taken...

Hmm. Isn't there a sticky thread dedicated to ship names and dedication plaque quotes already ?
Anyway, a few names:
USS Dauntless
USS William Adams (first Englishman to set foot in Japan.)
USS Blackthorne (named after the character based on William Adams in the Shogun mini-series)
USS Musashi
USS Tenzin Gyatso (Personal name of the current Dalai Lama - In my game, Dalai Lama-class ships, of which the Gyatso is one, are diplomatic couriers or science vessels; The armed versions are diplomatic escorts.)
USS Arthur C. Clarke

Aslan: Go click on my Incredibly Geeky Shiplist thread up in the Utopia Planitia forum. If you can't find a name in that list, you aren't trying.
