Alas I did not create the image, it was done for me by a member of my Yahoo Group, the STPMA.

They all do great work though

OK, not to discourage anyone from artistic endeavor, but:

What's the deal with the artists using famous or known actors for their photo mods ? It seems to me doing so destroys the verisimilitude of the character you're trying to create. (Its the same reason that new shows cast unknowns in their roles -- The viewing public have no expectations from well-loved characters played in the past.)

There's no lack of source material; You can find unknown models in the advertising of almost any magazine. Plenty of head shots of both genders can be found in many fashion magazines. You can find pictures of lesser known character actors at What-A-Character.com

Laura Bertram as Trance in Starfleet garb; Allyson Hannigan (Willow) as a Bajoran; They just don't work for me. The illusion is shattered when I see a well-known actor in Starfleet garb. I was a member of the STPMA briefly (never submitted anything). I hung it up when I saw The Rockford Files James Garner as an Andorian Starfleet admiral. I laughed out loud.

In short, I think using pics of known or famous personages for photo mods destroys the illusion. Your mileage may vary. Regardless of my opinion, photo mods are done for the enjoyment of the artist and I think the artist should suit himself.

Ezri- I respect your opinion BUT I too am a member of STMPA and I enjoy what they do very much. Imagination to an artist is just that- Picturing what a person MAY look like in a character in Star Trek.

If I could get some really good photos of Pam Grier as a Starfleet character (Captain or Admiral) I would jump on it in a minute.

When I write my fan fiction I use the actors I THINK would fit in a role. And if that is lack of imagination then so be it.

But think of it this way- Hollywood screenwriters get paid a lot of money to visualize characters -So do casting directors.

That is a great site - Only problem they are in b&w - That is a pain to fix in Photoshop.
I was born in a camp on Bajor- I joined the Resistance at 12 to fight for my people and my freedom. I joined Starfleet to help KEEP that freedom. As the Prophets will it I shall not fail you, Captain.
