It was a very poignant scene from the book. Myself, i was shocked that they cut it in favor of all those needless Gollum scenes.

It is just to powerful a scene to describe. It has all of the drama, grandeur, and cinematic mastery of the films. It features Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, Theoden and an unexpected encounter.
