The actual amount of information depends on clearance level and rank. Simple information that I gave would be easily accessed as "public" information. Just as Sea Tyger mentioned, Rostoff also has some Renown as well.Originally posted by Lancer
Here is another question, that occured to me because of the posts of Gandalf and Tyger in the thread for the actual game:
Who has access to whom's service record/personnel jacket and if some parts of it may be restricted to the 'general public' (of Starfleet), who gets to see all and who only parts (and which parts)?
While I don't mind anyone revealing this information - and I believe I can ignore anything R'rssar hasn't looked up - I am not going to post anything about R'rssar's background until asked directly IG for now.
For now I am going to assume that only those in my direct chain-of-command and above me in rank (i.e. Cmdr Rostoff) and maybe Cpt. Grimm have access to R'rssar's service record. The only exception are small things like "posted to ship X or station Y from year A to year B".
As has R'rssar. It's not much, but it's there. OTOH, Renown is not an automatic thing and neither is knowing the "public" information on another officer, even if he/she is posted to the same station.Originally posted by GandalfOfBorg

As I just realized I probably have less of a problem with you two giving this information away, than with giving it away before someone asks about it.
Who asks what questions about his/her fellow officers could tell a lot about the person asking and that is something I would find even more interesting than the information itself. OTOH, that could just be me.![]()
Here's how Grimm does it:Originally posted by Lancer

And if you work this into an IG post concerning the "...as he quietly talks shop with his XO..." line I'd be happy to PM you with all pertinent information on R'rssar.Originally posted by Sea Tyger

I am lost at what this conversation is all about.
Honestly I am not sure what the issue is, but I will decide who gets what, if I think they need it. Captain Grimm (being a Captain) can ask for the service jacket on anyone below him and probably get it.
Same for Commander Rostoff, more because he commands the station, so likely only those directly below him.
As for the station XO, that will be up to Rostof to pick a 1st and 2nd officer from his people. Also not all the crew has arrived.

Savanna Fields
Female Human - Engineering Dept.
Age 28
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Savanna is a native Earth Human of Caribbean descent. Her long black hair extends down to mid-back, which she keeps in tight braids and tied in the back. She is of average height and weight for Earth human females. Although she prefers to not think so, many men think she is very attractive. (No particular actress comes to mind. If any, it would be Gina Torres , XO of the Serenity on FIREFLY and Cas on Matrix 2 and 3. )
PERSONALITY PROFILE: Savanna has a light, humorous personality with a fierce temper. Growing up on an island, Savanna has a deep lure for the ocean, its stillness, dangers and beauty. She is very curious and mechanically inclined. She is always wanting to see how things are put together, usually by taking them apart. She also seemed quite adept at doing several things at the same time. She is slow to get to know people, but very warm and loyal once a friendship has been established.
RECORD: Savanna has served in Engineering Depts. onboard the USS MERCATOR and STARBASE 21.

Looks good Lancer, but does that rank make her an Lt JG? I thought she was a full LT?
Hmmm, in the UST universe it would appear that way...Originally posted by AslanC

I must admit I didn't check your UST page when doing this image, but instead relied on information from the Encyclopedia, as I never realized there was a difference. I always thought Lt.jg had only the one of the triangular badges (the lower one), while the full Lt. had both 'triangles'.
The Trek encyclopedia is also wrong based on canon on screen evidence.
I myself didn't know that until I found this page...

Interesting, but still incorrect IMO. Spike's site (one of my favorite references for ST uniforms and ranks actually) misses a rank pip in the "used in the movies column" that was actually seen on-screen: In Generations the 'Tuvok' character on the Ent-B clearly has a rank-sign that resembles what is listed on Spike's site as the "FASA ensign rank", but arranged horizontaly, instead of the usual vertical arrangement.Originally posted by AslanC

That aside, let's just wait and see if Lt. Fields likes that image at all. Changing the rank insignia to conform to the UST ranks shouldn't be too difficult.![]()
