The Hall of Fire, Issue #7

The newest issue of The Hall of Fire is ready for download!

This month's issue has the final part to the ecology of Dragons, A PC's So-Called Life about Social Tests, write-ups for another Nazgul, Pallando, and common Men, a new Elite Order, and a whole lot more!

The issue can be downloaded through one of these sites:
Webzine's home site
Mirror site
CODA Webzines

Hope you enjoy it!

This is the first time I've checked out your webzine. REALLY, REALLY outstanding work. I haven't gone back to read the past issues yet, downloading them as I type, but issue #7 is on par with any professional RPG periodical I've ever seen, and better than some.

The installment of the adventure mod in this issue is particularly well done. Of particular interest to me is the "treasure" available from various encounters. Very reasonable, very subdued, very fitting to the ME setting.

This one issue has made me decide to go out and purchase the game book, and I may change my plans to run a GURPS Trek campaign over to a CODA LotR campaign... it's that good.

Target on the mover!

Thank you very much I'm quite glad to hear that you like the issue and hope you like the back issues.

Oh and for your information and those who don't already know, I have also begun a CODA Star Trek RPG webzine called Beyond the Final Frontier and links to it can be found on the Trek forum and the CODA Webzine repository (see link above).

Excellent magazine once again - you are doing for the game what Decipher should have done (supported it!).

But I have a minor issue with Palando. Well two actaully. The first is that I am not a great fan of writing stats for characters as powerful as a Maia. To reduce them to a set of numbers diminishes their power. But that is a personal feeling on the matter and I understand that many people like such characters to be statted. The second issue is that in his last writing on the matter of the Istari Professor ~Tolkien wrote:

The 'other two' came much earlier, at the same time probably as Glorfindel, when matters became very dangerous in the Second Age. Glorfindel was sent to aid Elrond and was (though not yet said) pre-eminent in the war in Eriador. But the other two Istari were sent for a different purpose. Morinehtar and Rómenstámo. Darkness-sayer and East-helped. Their task was to circumvent Sauron: to bring help to the few tribes of Men that had rebelled from Melkor-worship, and to stir up rebellion ... and after his firt fall to search out his hiding (in which they failed) and to cause [?dissension and dissaray] among the dark East ... They must have had very great influence on the history of the Second Age and Third Age in weakening and disarraying the forces of East ... who would both in the Second Age and Third Age otherwise have .. outnumbered the West.
Quote taken from The Peoples of Middle-earth.

Palando and Alatar therefore remained true to their task and were successful.

Hope this helps.

I only recently hopped over here from the Trek side of things, so just discovered HOF. This is excellent work, and I hope y'all can keep it up. Thank you and your crew.

Looks great, guys! Bravo!

Are there any certain types of submissions that you are hoping will come your way, or haven't you any special needs like that? I'm hoping that I'll have a bit more time once school is out and summer is in (though I'll of course have soccer going).

Anyway, keep up the good work! I especially like the new format, very spiffy.

I can understand this feeling, but as these characters were in fact mortal in being when coming to Middle Earth, I see it as they were subject to all the same frailties as those of men as they were disguised as such which is the reason why I did it. But as you said, to each his own

Well I haven't read that book myself, just the letters from which I derived one of my quotes I think. Since the good doctor set forth many rules of his world and then recanted some, I just give it up to the players of the game to make their own decisions; I just wanted to give some possible outcomes of what happened and/or ideas for adventures. But I thank you for providing the quote.

We have no preferences, the only restrictions we have is that the content would be something that others would use for their games and that we support the CODA system. You could send in articles similar to those that have been previously set forth and/or something new, fan content (spells, abilities, racial and order packages, equipment, creatures, sample characters/NPC's, etc.), poetry, riddles, maps, etc., etc., etc.
