In Part II, "The Dark Forest", the Fellowship warily travels across the Inland Sea of Rhun with a band of Easterlings sworn to recover their tribe's shard of the Iron Jewel stolen by the mysterious Baldur. Forged in the First Age by Morgoth as a pale forgery of the Silmaril taken from him by Beren and Luthien, the Iron Jewel was shattered a thousand years ago in a climactic battle between a Wizard and the dragon that had been lured to seize it. The missing loremaster Belemir seems curiously bent on finding the pieces, and the Fellowship pursuing him is not sure to what end. The Fellowship must somehow handle the treacherous Easterlings whose ship they need to cross the sea to reach the Great Wood of Rhun. There, the heroes must deal with Elves who have never known the West...as well as the mysterious Singer, a Power long exiled from the West. In this ancient dark forest of Rhun, lost secrets will finally be revealed.
