    CODA Vampire: The Masquerade

These are my rules for playing Vampire: The Masquerade using the CODA system.
The conversion is very simple. Both systems use a stat-skill combination for the rolls. Simply use the stat modifier and skill listed to make the Disciplines work. Using the conversion tables provided it is a simple matter to use the White Wolf books for a reference. For normal activities just use the CODA rules as is.
I eliminated the Humanity score; we never really made use of it and it always seemed silly to have a stat to tell you how you were role playing. Just use Willpower for Rotschreck and Frenzy checks.
I still need to finish my conversion of the Star Trek professions into a CODA Modern list of professions. When I am done I will post them as well.
Unfortunately I am unable to link my files to the post, so here is a link to my webpage

    Villa Aelius

Just click on CODA Vampire when you get there. It's a very minimal conversion, but the basics are all there. Hope you like it, and if there are any questions just post them and I will try to answer.

Hmm if you're going to convert it - why not convert it ! It wouldn't be terribly difficult to simply create the same set of skills in Coda if you needed them to exist. As it stands you are doubling up on allot of skills. You might also want to look at the Startrek version of the rules for more modern comparable skills for a modern setting.

Making so many skills Lore is going to be unballancing, because you can specialise your character into powergaming heaven!

Something that the newest incarnation of Vampire has done is to change the whole issue of target numbers (they only have 8 now) and multiple or single successes. This will go allong way to help any such conversion but how do you represent 3 successes needed ? For example yes 3 successes could be a superior success - BUT since you are looking at a 22 for that (if base is 7) then that's extremelly unlikelly (if possible at all!) - so how do you adress the multiple successes needed for some disciplines?

Your damage will make the system allot more scaleable on damage for people! I.e. the bigger you are the more you can take, which again is how they are doing in in WOD 2

For multiple successes I require increasing levels of success with the CODA roll. Success is 1 success, complete success is 3 successes, the next level (the name for which I can't remember now) is 4 successes and extraordinary success is 5 successes. That skips the 2 success level, but the conversion works well enough.
As to many of the skills being under the lore category, if you look at the skills in question they are pretty much different kinds of lore, or if you are playing modern, knowledges.
And yes, I originally put this together for Vampire: Dark Ages. I have gone through and converted V:TM to the CODA Trek skills but I have not put it on the computer yet.
As I said when I presented my CODA Jedi conversion I try to leave the rules I am converting from intact as much as possible. Using the conversion sheet I presented anyone can play directly from any of the White Wolf Vampire products. If they are familiar with CODA that is. I will try to update the conversion sheet to my website soon for modern Vampire.
    Thanks for the questions.
