Anybody ever played the CCG by Decipher?
Just want to know how 'rare' the 'Relics-episode' Scotty is.

Not very. It's included in the giveaway 'Warp Pack' and is just about everywhere.
Scotty is THE man, though!

I think I got a few more than that, both with/without the tribble in his hand...<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by Robbert Raets:

Got a couple of nice Captain/XO sets, Picard and Riker and Sisko and Kira (thanks to the snazzy reflection card reprints), but am still missing the majority of the TNG and DS9 crew...
Oh well... At least the 'extras' make for good character portraits...

"A couple of thoughts from a random mind!"
I started playing when it first came out into the market, I was young, had money to spend, and thuroughly enjoyed watching TNG (at that time the only show in town for us newbie trekkies). So I bought in . . . I stopped buying majorly after the second edition of AU came out. But since coming to college have bought several packs of the new sets.
It's an OK game . . . long . . . and expensive, but if you like it I say go for it.
However, I have to say this, being one with a HUGE selection of first edition cards . . . these new decks weaken to the older cards to the point of unplayability, they are just over whelmed by the new rules, skills, and what not that have come along. Due to this, and no other reason, I stopped playing, and collecting. There is no point anymore.
But if you're new, you'll enjoy it. But like all CCGs, expect to put in funds to be able to play a GOOD game.

I should add that while I have probably spent in the region of £100 or more on these cards (the costs do add up without you noticing at £2-4 per booster pack...), I have NER+VER actually played the game.
Instead I collect the cards partially for the plain enjoyment of collecting something, partially for the card images (which I can find online at the decipher site if I wanted), and partially as a game aid.
If I need an NPC, I simply pick a random card and have a vague idea for an unexpected PC (or landing party redshirt)...
Ship names, surprise events to run off the cuff if the group is getting bored, random target selection (science, security, engineering or officer...).
In fact while I am sure somneone has created a full game aid conversion system somewhere, there are simply so many permutations on how the cards can simply add a sense of random realism to the game.
Sure I could do without them, most of us could, but I find that they are simply a tool to expand the gaming experience and make my work as Narrator slightly easier meaning I dont have to either plan every possibility the players might choose or have to run everything off the top of my head...

I too spend an immense amount on collecting the cards and haven't played it for years. As something of a completist (or: 'sucker'), I like to get every card.
Has anyone seen the Ultra rare card for the Voyager set: it's the Rock from the wresting episode. Hmm, not a must have card, methinks.

I collected the game once. But now it is to expensive and the game is to complex, just too many cards. I don't like Deciphers "new ideas". Dual Icon Cards in two diffrent colors, foil cards and so on. These are, from my point of view, only monymakingtricks

I, just like Dan, NEVER (ever) have actually played the game itself. But the cards are great for adventure ideas, npc's etc.
And it IS offical trek, after all.

Has anyone ever thought of scanning complete sets, instead of the half sets available from Decipher so that we could all enjoy them?
Cause despite my contacts, theya re still sooper expensive in back stock. Which is weird becuase when I was a distributer for CCGs and RPGs it was hard to move Star Trek Cards...guess tghere was a rebirth I missed

Yes, I think you`re right. The cards became much too expansive and some are really useless. Before the Tribble-Expansion was out I played often, but after that I didnt buy any new cards.
