You only get specialties if it specifically states it in a package or profession. Otherwise you have to buy them with picks.

Yeah i made that mistake, thinking it was like LUG Trek, but no, unless it states you recieve them as part of the package, you have to buy them like everything else!

However, if the Professional Ability you choose during character creation provides a free specialty, you do get to choose one in addition to any provided by your character's Professional Development package.
