    There's a fourth point, D.S.:

When Nimoy showed up in TNG, the show wasn't hanging on to its existence by its fingernails. It wasn't fighting for its life; it was playing around with story ideas. It might have been sweeps week, so they were probably looking to boost ratings, but what show isn't trying to do the exact same thing with every episode. TNG was going strong when they did it.

In that context, I would group Voyager and Enterprise in the same category; fighting for their lives by pulling in folks from other, more popular shows. This doesn't mean Ent is revving up the motorcycle. It just means the show did it for a different reason than TNG.

Probably, but there is also a connection between the Undiscovered Country film and the Unification two-part episode, at least from the look of the novelization (based on the initial film script).
    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

More accurately, TNG wasn't bound by the strictures of fickle network executives, as Enterprise is, and the last couple/few seasons of Voyager were. I doubt that Enterprise would be in such "dire straits" had she been a syndicated show like TNG and DS9.

That depends. Could Braga be a better executive producer without UPN or any network "suits"? IMNSHO, nope.

In Part II of the episode, Spock does have a line about his role in the Khitomer Accords, but it's a tenuous connection at best.

All in all, I think crossover episodes are hit and miss ("Relics" and "Unification" were great, but McCoy's cameo on "Encounter At Farpoint" I always felt ambivalent about, and Lwaxanna Troi's appearances on DS9 just seemed pointless to me -- never saw the VOY eps with Troi and Barclay so I can't comment on those). Add in ENT's writing (which has varied between average and horrible, IMO) and you get the recipe for a fairly bad episode.

Is ENT Jumping The Shark? I don't know, but I always hoped they'd go out better than this, like announcing that for the 4th season, the MACO's would get a new CO.

That's a good point; when Spock mentioned being responsible for what happened in Undiscovered Country, everyone was all, "What's he mean?!? I must see the movie now!" Might have been done to help promote that flick. It just so happened the story was cool too.

Not to put a damper on your comment Fesarius... But Fonzie was on water ski's when that happened.

Just my little piece of trivia
