    (CODA) federation destroyer 2223+

    Hey all,

I've just created my first Starship to use in as the characters vessel in my TOS era game. I've basically decided not to give them a fairly new Constitution class starship, but rather a 40+ year old destroyer refit based upon an image I found (see below).

    Starship Image

The original and refitted stats are listed below. Any comments/feedback would be much appreciated.

Also a question. Should the bridge be located in the rear tower or forward dorsal?

I'd put the bridge in the traditional forward dorsal position. I like the concept.

I'm sorry. When I look at your pic, I can't imagine 17 decks and 350 crewmembers.

Maybe 10 decks and 75-150 crewmembers.

Agree with tmutant, put the bridge on top and forward...it's a destroyer, not a tanker.

That aside, I really like this Trafalgar-class destroyer. With the date being 2223, I can imagine a young Robert April serving aboard one of these as a navigator. Looks good!

Let's see the rest of the orthos!

    Thanks for the feedback.

With regards to ortho's I only found the side image on Starship Schematics, but I am slowly trying to work up other views.

I agree with both of you for the more traditional bridge placing. It suits my ideas better to have the tower as a secondary torpedo launch platform.

As with regards to the decks and crews thats easy. I scaled the picture up so the nacelles were the same length as a Constitutions (116%) and took dimension measurements (Height & Length. Beam is conjectural at the moment). Using the measurements of the Consties height I just divided by the # of decks, giving me 3.26m as the average. Then it was just a matter of finding out how many 3.26m's go into 57m. And as for the crew the pre-TOS Consties only had a crew of 200+ until they were refitted for TOS era with a 430 crew. The Trafalgar-class isn't that much smaller than a Constitution. However, a slightly smaller crew may be wiser (not to mention easier to GM).

I like the pic. . .neat little ship. I would like to see the other views you come up with. Could be fun to run a session or two aboard one of these little six-deck research ships.
