[ICON] Critters. . .bunch of ‘em.

I don't do much with creatures, and have never bothered with their templates. But a week ago I started playing with the templates in TNG: Corebook (Data's cat to be precise). Took some time to get comfortable with the creature template, but I think I got the hang of it.

This datasheet was done for fun, so I could learn the creature template. It has templates (and pictures) for twelve critters. The damn cat template couldn't be removed without screwing up the layout for everything else, so I kept it. Just like a real cat, the template was always underfoot when ya didn't want it around. I included the wolf template because my friend was disappointed the canine template never appeared in any LUG books.

Also included: an Andorian critter ; the Antedean Ruthler; the Bolian V'rar, inspired by my interest in carcharodon megalodon; the Camor Saber Beast; the Centauri Kur'ra; the pesky Ferengi Droch Beetle; the Ktarian Tor; the Tellarite Ak'sha; another familiar critter you all know ; and lastly, the Vulcan Go'Ree.

redwood973 , cool idea it and looks pretty neat. If you like, i can host it on my site. My email is mfamith (at) msn (dot) com. You can send it as one file for simplicity sake. By the way, the third attachement is corrupted.

Since this is an ICON project rather than a CODA one, would you mind if I also included this on the Memory: ICON site?

One question, though... Why make the Taun-Taun Andorian? I mean, it doesn't have antennae, so it doesn't really fit into the Andorian biosystem as established in the ICON Andorian supplement, Among the Clans. Why not just call it a Taun-Taun and let it go at that?

    Sure, go ahead. Thanks.

I had made the "tan box" section of that template just for fun. I wanted to see what it would look like, never intending to use it. . .it was just practice. My friend Kyle, who plays an Andorian in our game, has always made reference to his childhood pet on Andor. It was never given much detail other than a name. After he seen my scribbling. . .his pet became a Taun-Taun. His character sheet went from "Animal Handling (Andorian Creature) 1 (3)" to "Animal Handling (Andorian Tauntaun) 1 (3)."

It had never occured to me while developing this that it does not fit into what LUG established for Andors biosystem. I was so caught up in development rules wise it never occured to me to pull my copy of Among the Clans and do some background checking first.

As I mentioned in my very first post of this topic this is my first use of the creature template. A few of you have downloaded it now, as I have not heard much I assume I followed the rules correctly? Nothing amiss?

Okay, so my friend Kyle stopped by today with a bunch new critter pics asking that I write them up. He also asked I take the old ones and make them more printer friendly. . .which I did and have reposted to the first three posts of this thread.

I'll try and get a few of the new ones out this week.

Nice, if you have the CODA Creatures book there could be some inspiration for some more for ICON ...

Okay, haven't forgotten this. . .just been busy. Got tired of sorting thru some stuff everytime I made up a new character, so I'm putting all the fan made specialisations into a consolidated list with the ones from the books. Figrured while I was doing that I'd search the threads for new ones. There are a lot of them and taking a lot more time than I thought it would.

I can't credit everyone for their ideas, but maybe once it is all together I'll .pdf if anyone would want a copy (not sure on being able to post something like that here).

Okay, now that the consolidated skills list is done I can get back to some of the other things I was working on. (Sorry, Kyle. As usuall, got a little distracted.)

Oh, by the way--already have a couple of specializations to add to the first update of the consolidated skills list, so if anyone finds anything else send them my way and I'll toss them in.
