Some of those views are people, like me, who have voted but come in to see what people are posting. Others I assume are views by unregistered users. . .and thus not able to vote.

I would assume the number you see who have voted are the actual number of active TrekRPGNet users.

The ratio of votes to views (55 to 880+) is 1 to 16. The poll has been up since 8/13/2004, therefor up for only 7 days. I have also contacted over 140 of the top posting members of the site via email and have Private Message a hand full that have been on the site when I am. So 100 votes should have been vary likely. It is possible because I am contact via a yahoo email account that many of those emailed had the email treated as spam.

Don Mappin indicated on Wednesday at that time all the active users have voted, but a few more have voted since then and since my last post.

I don't post much, and I only drop in once in a while, but I would hate to see this go. As an example, I almost missed the closing date.

I didn't vote, because I can live with several of the options. But the minimum for me is that I want the archive to stay available online. There is a lot of good stuff in there.

I could afford a server with a 50GB transfer, and I probably has the skill to do it.

Don, I will send you mail with an initial offer and some questions (current bandwidth demands and database size mainly). I have not been able to look into if there is any transactional problems involved, as I am in Europe.

Spshu, just to make myself clear I am not out to compete with you. Its mainly that it is friday night, so the shut down isn't that far away. My main objective is not to loose the archives, even if there is just a handful who wants to access them (at least the bandwidth would be cheep is such case). I will include an offer for the site as well, as the domain name is the current way to find the forums. But at the moment, I think the site would be to much on my hands, and wouldn't contain more than it does now.

However, my problem is mainly lack of time. So, if not enough of the old moderators stays, it probably would become a read only place. I would hate that, but at least there is other boards now.

Because a lot of old-timers still remember that rule

Well speaking as one of the Moderators, one of the voters, and as one of the catchment group of this website. I can confirm that if the site stays, so do I.

I can live with any of the options in the poll but would prefer that the site continue. It would hard to build another community to 2200+ members, some will probably never joint another Trek RPG site for fear it might happen again. I did want to compete with anyone either if they had better standing in this community.

Actually, that's not what I said. I said it was likely that all the active users had voted. I have no way of knowing if everyone who visits the site regularly read your message, not to mention voted on it. I went on to say that with Decipher in limbo and Star Trek interest overall (not just RPGs) waning, that Trek role-playing wasn't necessarily in a lot of people's minds at the moment, hence don't expect a lot of votes. This site has quite a few lurkers that just cull the threads for information but choose not to participate.

The Tuesday date was selected because I have to pay for the next month on Thursday. Hence my interest in resolving the situation without having to shell out for another month. If I accept an offer and make arrangements to transfer the site before then, well great. Otherwise we'll see what happens; I might have to reup for another month in order to sort this whole thing out.

Most likely I will take the site down, back everything up to my local machine, terminate the server, and continue negotiations in the background.

    Dunno.
