    Constitution Class Hull (TTF)

Okay, finally got sick of using the other freeware 'Hull' fonts out there that all seem to have serious problems which keep crashing various programs, so I decided to take a stab at the old-style lettering system used on starship hulls myself.

(In a lot of ways, this font is much more authentic than what else is out there, since this is based on the USAF and USN lettering of the period - where the 'USS' lettering came from).

Hmm a font should not crash your software, I would look towards your file, not so much the font it's self.. that said that's a really useful site !

actually, what I've found is that Paint Shop Pro is very picky about fonts. If there's an incomplete or invalid glyph, PSP has serious problems with it.

Word, Publisher, et all, winds up substituting the font glpyh if it has to, but sometimes crashes if its too bad.

I notice it most often with fonts that are scan/traced from other sources rather than verified by hand. For instance, those fonts scanned in from Mr Scott's Guide to the Enterprise or Franz Joseph's Tech Manual.

And, again, another freeware 'Trek' font that I had had some serious problems. What it looks like is that some of these are scans from books that aren't cleaned up at all, leaving a lot of font errors and glyph mistakes that some gits don't bother cleaning up.... grr...

Same as before... this time replacing TNG Monitors, which had huge glyph and mapping problems. I think that was was the main culprit, though...

I've actually been using a font called 'LCARS' for some time, and it is much superior to 'NG MONITOR' font, including having lower case characters, and I can't say I've had huge problems with it? I can send it to you if you want, I can't remember where I got it now

I thought that was for macs? No big deal, though. But I already redid the glyphs completely for Okudagrams. Very much appreciate the offer, though - just wish I had found a day before and saved me the trouble.

The so-called TNG Monitors is a crap font anyway, and not particularly close to what was actually used - Swiss911 Ultracompressed. Its shortcomings are especially evident in the top of the capital "A".

    *laughs*
Meaning that I completely wasted my time redoing it.

Ah well, I don't do a lot of TNG-like stuff, anyway. I'll see if I can't find a better source to go on and set about redoing and cleaning up Okudagrams accordingly then. I would like the font to actually be USEFUL to someone, and I admit that the version based on 'NG Monitors' looks pretty bad.

Edit - Took the time out today and completely redid the Okudagrams font based on a few samples of the 'real' font and some TNG displays that I found. It's not perfect (I didn't scan and measure), but I think it comes pretty close, while only sacrificing a little for more readbility in print. File is on above post.
