I'm running into similar problems regarding large ships in one of my games at the moment myself and it is nowhere near as big as the Scimitar or being built by a slave race.

I haven't quite decided whether or not to treat the Scimitar as a unique vessel and once destroyed, the class itself is done or to allow for the possibility of one or two more lurking out there. But I have a few years until I decide what the reprecussions are for my universe.

It is nice to see advancement but I have also always presumed that advancements have been occurring over the years behind the scenes for most powers anyway. Well, maybe not the Pakleds.

I don't see the Romulans being big on the Scimitar design. Given the design of the Valdore the Romulans seem to be moving away from gigantic moving targets with guns. If the plans survived, however, including the nescessary specs for the Thaeleron reactor it could easily be something to have fall into the hands of some minor player who wants to play with the big boys. I doubt there'd be more actually built already, though, as the Remans had to have been pushing it by tapping the resources to build one (in secret)... still, without canon evidence there's nothing stopping you from putting one or two more out there. Maybe a prototype with an older cloak or no Thaeleron reactor... or maybe a phasing cloak ^_^

True, its almost a given that small advancements would be made. I meant more in the terms of something big and balance o' power-shifting. Throughout the series the only side that ever really seemed to do anything along those lines was the Federation, and even then it was never really especially huge.

The Romulans fit well in the role of allies or enemies, imho. Mainly because whichever they are at the moment you're never quite sure if they're really intending to stay that way or if their current disposition is just a ploy for something else. Granted, I prefer them as enemies to the Federation in the limited context of a movie.

As for the actor... I think I just disliked the character entirely, the way he was written and the way he was delivered. I'd like to see the actor in something else before I make any solid decisions about him, though. Something with a character I liked and a decent script

With all due respect, it wasn't the actor. It was the base script. Even if he had performed well, it still wouldn't move me to like the story as a whole.

(On that same note, I feel sorry for Ron Perlman for having been cast as a Reman.)

The clone should have been a pawn of a political faction in the Romulan Senate that still prefer the status quo over the reformation and eventual reunification of Romulans and Vulcans.
    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

The script did leave something to be desired and yes the clone should have been a pawn still but that goes back to what I said earlier about TPTB being unwilling to allow for a true-blood Romulan adversary to shine.

I keep meaning to check IMDB to see what else that actor has done.

Well, Tom Hardy's first roles were as one of the PFCs in "Band of Brothers" and a Specialist in "Blackhawk Down." All of his other works are British works that I don't have any knowledge of.

I saw Band of Brothers and do not recall off the top anyone being bad in that mini-series. I have not seen any other things he has been in.
