[CODA/TOS] USS Otomo Class I Patrol Frigate

Picked up Starships from the budget bin today, along with SOM, and decided to take a stab at a ship design (as far as stats go).

The Otomo started as a bit of a joke, (which may be obvious when you see the visual of her), but it also visually fit nicely in the anemic TOS fleet, particularly where military-frigates are concerned.

The ship is combat-heavy, stripping down a lot of other components (except slightly beefing up sensors), in part to fufill her duties. Her job, basically, is to detect then stop border-hopping Klingons. Heavy structure, heavy weapons assortment, and little room for much else... not something to go 'boldly exploring' in, but something to go 'boldly pounding' in...

As such, I have her production run going from 2258 to 2271, ending just shy of the 'refit' era. Considering her very limited mission role, she is likely one class that didn't survive the refit era, and was retired in favour of more versatile ships.

And, though the visual is in the PDF, I'll present it to you here as well...

Lots of downloads and no comments, ya meanines.

Anyway, looking at it, I'm thinking it doesn't mass the same as the Reliant/Miranda and should probably lower the space count for it (and, hence, lower the structure significantly to make it a little less twinky).

Is there a reason I'm not seeing to effectively make this a size 4.5 ship with 58 space? And should I treat the overall ship size then as a '5' for purposes of other components?

I like the visuals - would make a nice lightweight stablemate for the Loknar. Can't comment on the stats right now, as I'm separated from my books

Can I nick it for my website? (suitably credited of course)

No worries, I'm going to knock the size and structure down a peg, though, to bring the ship more in line with what I think her capabilities should be. Even as a warship, this thing is pretty tough.

Oh, feel free. That's what they're there for.
