Would someone be so kind as to...

Could someone please post the overlays for Command, Security, Medical, Operations, and Engineer from the TNG Core book?

I see the Science one is here but I could really use them all, thanks in advance.

Maybe there could be a thread for these?

(The overlays for the Races from the TNG and DS9 books would help as well.)

Due to liscencing issues, nobody should be able to post these details here. en masse it causes a breech of copywright, as the ICON system is still actively owned by a company in business.

It tends to open a great discussion about which system is allowed, and what can and cannot be posted.

As a general rule of thumb, anything copied straight out of the book is not allowed, while a personal interpretation would be fine.

May I suggest you check the 'Who Owns ICON' thread for a more detailed description of the situation.

Come on, that has to be the biggest bunch of balony..

Lot's of things get posted to the internet that are copied out of books.

I wasn't asking for the whole book. Besides, someone already posted the science overlay up, what's wrong with asking for the others?

    Nothing.

LUG is dead and so is the ICON system. No one is making money off these books anymore.

Whether or not you think the Forum policy is baloney (or any other type of lunch meat), it is still Forum policy, as laid out in Paragraph 6(e) of the Terms of Service: http://forum.trek-rpg.net/forum_tos.php.

If you wish to suggest changes to Forum policy, or if you believe you are being treated unfairly, you may contact the site owner, Capt. Lundgren at trek-rpg@chello.se. Please include a link to the relevant thread.

Thank you for bringing the offending post to my attention.

Yepp and some people even post movie copies on the net - that does not make legal though...

That is not the point. The point is that it does not belong to us ( with us meaning potential posters here ) and therefore we cannot distribute it freely. It would not only be morally questionable ( how would you react if somebody spread one of your work without asking you ?) and it would also break current law, not speaking of our TOS.
Additionally I do not see why you got so agitated about the answer to your question, it was a very polite and descriptive reply. You find a bunch of very useful information here, but if you need the actual rules, I suggest you pick up one of the ICON core rule books, they are really worth their price - or if not possible the newer CODA version trek rpg - unless you own one of the already.

Counselor Troi moment: "Captain! I sense a strong core of loyalty here!"

*grin* No system truly dies as long as there are loyal users that continue to share and discuss it.

Thanks Redwood, I needed the chuckle!

I'm sorry I think I am confused about this. I know you were polite, I wasn't agitated, I just don't see how it could affect anything really. I own all the core ICON books, the problem was mine are a thousand miles away.

Anyway, I see the point now.

    Thanks.
