    dvd player troubleshooting

Hey guys I am having trouble with my dvd player (Apex ad1110wd) As of late
it intermintenly plays my dvds...but most of the time I get a NO DISK or UNKNOWN DISK when I load my dvds into it. I also might add that my dvd player is 2 years old ...I clean every 10 hrs of play with a Scotch brand cleaner and i do keep my dvds clean. Can someone help me with my dvd player problem because I dont have the funds to buy a new one.

If any one can help me e-mail me at werehampster1@yahoo.com

    sincerly,
    skree

Make sure nothing is wrong with the DVDs first. Go over to your friend's house and play them on their player to see if they are working.

Email to Apex requesting new software update for your particular model.

"Clean every 10 hours of play"? I only clean once a year.

Could also be that your laser is out-of-focus; If that's the case, considering that DVD players are getting to be about US$30 or less, it would cost you less to replace your player than have it repaired.

The same thing happened to me recently, except that my DVD player was 7 years old. Someone suggested that the laser might have gone bad, and only be able to read one "color" of DVD (If you look at DVD's, the readable bits sometimes have different tints to them, including yellowish and bluish.)

Their advice to me was "Go to Wal-Mart, they're selling DVD players for $35."

So I did, and all the DVD's that didn't work before work in the new player.

    It's dying.

    They do that.

I had a real nice one. Triple player, lots of features. Cost $400+. Sucker lasted only about 2 years then just up and died. Did many of what you have mentioned. At first it was this or that DVD not working. Then it worked okay and I thought it had fixed itself. In about a month, any DVD I put into it would either play for a few minutes then skip and/or shut off, or the player wouldn't recognize the DVD that was put into it.

I bought a new one...single model, for about $80. Works like a charm, and I won't feel bad when it dies in another year and a half like I did with my fancy three disc one I had.

Save your money...you're going to need it to buy a new one soon.

Is that to be expected? My VCR machine is still working after 5 years.

Yeah...they don't make them like VCRs. I'm still using my VCR from over 8 years ago. Works without a problem. Same can't be said of the DVD players these days.

I've witnessed 5 people who have been through MORE than 2 DVD machines over the last 5 years. I'm one of those five.

My current DVD machine is the second but it's by choice. Had to get a multiple-disc changer to load up 6 of my LOTR Extended Edition movie discs.
