Ok how about an option:
Tv reality shows will be the death of Startrek and Battlestar galactica franchises..
That one gets my vote!![]()
Battlestar Galactica is the deathblow of Enterprise?
Enterprise the deathblow of Battlestar Galactica?
Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica will both continue!
<joke> Sponge Bob Squirepants is the deathblow to Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica!

Or how about "Mainstream audience will be the death of genre fans"?
Sorry, I'm still pissed Spider-Man 2 is not nominated for Best Picture. <mocking voice> It's The Avia-TOR.

. BTW, Erzi's Toy hit the spot. No ghetto sci fi show with an adolecent view of the world is going to hold a candle against Star Trek or Star Wars. The thing that Star Trek and Star Wars has going for them is mainstream notieriety, which no other live action scif-fi show can never achieve, especially in this climate of tv shows.

They have a lot of exposures and headstarts. Rookie sci-fi TV shows have to compete with them, but they can achieve. Babylon 5 pretty much made its way to become an icon, so are those weird Brit-produced TV shows, Dr. Who and Red Dwarf.Originally Posted by Space_Cadet

Babylon 5 is not mainstream or at least mainstream enough compared to Star Trek or Star Wars. Its still has its strong fan base but it doesn't have the casual fans that STar Trek or Star Wars has. Same can be said about Dr. Who and Red Dwarf. Trek and Wars are household names. Ask an average guy/gal on the street about Star Trek and Star Wars they'll think of icons of those shows. But I don't think "rookie" sci-fi shows have a chance in this climate of television programming, IMO.Originally Posted by REG
I think Space_cadet's got it right there. The new ones get axed before they get a chance to get a following.
IMO, Enterprise and BSG are not competing for viewers (unless TV scheduling puts them against each other!), as a lot of people will watch both, and the Trek/Stargate style series are more likely to pull in casual viewers than the likes of BSG. I've just seen the final episode of this series, and while it was worth the wait, it took a lot of dedication to get through to this point!
The real enemies are reality shows (I still can't believe how many we have going over here now), and the crime drama series. Do you realise CSI is now running two spin-offs after only 5 years? And Law & Order is very similar.

Agree on every point. Enterprise has hit its stride with the more political storylines. BSG, however, is simply superlative in character and story development.Originally Posted by Snake_Plissken

Man, I should have kept a file of that seven-part Ron D. Moore interview of his brief employment on the VOYAGER set.
EDIT: Found it. Originally they are Fandom articles, Cinescape archived it.

I'm not much of sophisticated Trek or sci-fan but sometimes you just want to turn the idiot box after a hard day at school or work and just see the explosions, firefights and the pretty starships.
