i don't feel we've been lied to. it's been one year since the big announcement and it's pretty much still the same: no plans to print any more trek rpg books. granted before that there were plenty of printer issues and i don't think we have any way of knowing if they were flat out lies or actual printing problems. their ccgs certainly suffer from a fair amount to lend credence to that. anything fan created is great whether it be short & sweet like btff articles or a big netbook!

Mmm. Shell company to copyright the fan-created material. Call it "InDecipherAble."
*chuckles* I like InDecipherAble........I really must get out more, I guess!

    Cheers

Since 'Worlds' isn't being published, maybe create a Netbook called 'Galaxy' part of the 'InDecipherAble' line of publications

I love the utter vagueness of that response, too.

Once "the situation" has been cleared up.

At this point, I'm just hanging on to see what the next reason they toss us is.

'Printer' problems, Dec's 'reorganization,' Paramount's 'reorganization'... did I miss anything?

"Publication of the next Star Trek RPG will be delayed indefinitely while Warren Holland reorganizes his sock drawer."

This is like when I was waiting for the first Space Shuttle to launch.

You'll have to forgive me if I don't repeat every single scrap of information I've been given in every post, First. Since the situation had already been desribed and explained, I didn't think I'd have to do it again within the space of a month. I apologize if I misjudged the tolerance for repetition.

But think of it this way. We've gotten more responses in the past month or so than we have for the previous year. I'd think this would be seen as a good thing, but instead we get, "That's nice, what else have you got?"

I'm as anxious as the next person to have Worlds published (maybe more than most, as I stand to get paid when this happens), but come on! To borrow a phrase from Owen, necrohippoflagellation is not going to help the situation in the least...

    Smile The Ferengi FU!

    You dance well, Doug.

Here's a question for you, in all seriousness. Why don't you quit? It's not like Decipher is paying you. Hell, it's not like you're evening getting free product (that you care about). I mean you're spening a LOT of time taking a beating for a company that, frankly, doesn't deserve it.

You want to see the lines of communication improve or at least send a clear message? Tell them that you're tired of passing along their half-baked, devoid-of-content messages and have them clean up their own mess. At the very least grab a lifepod before the warp core takes the whole ship with it. I have to believe you have better things to be doing with your time.

Honestly, I've considered it. But then, you knew that... What we've gotten so far has been a direct result of my threatening that very action.

More likely the latter. Based on experience, if there isn't someone with an in pestering them for more information, they'll just hold onto any news until they figure it out...

I apologize for even giving the appearance that I am taking out my frustration on you, Doug.

It's true that you've explained what "the situation" is. Or at least, what you know of it that has managed to trickle its way down to you through the gears of Decipher's Customer Disservice machine. I certainly wan't talking about any vagueness of yours. Most definitely not. Thou art as unto the Angel of Revelation, compared to Decipher.

Yes, we've gotten more responses lately, and that appears to be entirely due to your efforts. And even a schmuck like me can appereciate that.

Then again, "more" does not necessarily equal "better," and Dec's communications continue to leave considerable to be desired.

But that ain't your doing, and I don't mean to imply, ever, that it is.

Now maybe it's also true I'm not being patient enough with Decipher and Paramount when I think that several months is an overlong time for them to be taking to resolve "the situation." I'm not in the corporate sector, I don't know how it works.

I suppose I've gotten used to how fast I can accomplish things with stuff like email and instant messaging and cell phones and overnight express mail, and I forget that there are some things that actually take a long time to do.

Y'know, like building Rome and bringing about world peace and stuff.

So, I'm gonna shut up and go work on my patience with Master Po.

Like I said, I'm as anxious as anyone, so if you'll forgive me lashing out about your impatience, I'll call us even.

Its kinda rough to sit here and bite my lip about this matter. Doug, in all seriousness, you're better off in other venues. Dare I say go get a job with WOTC?

Decipher has shown that we, the fans of LOTR and ST:RPG, mean nothing to them because they are making more money from their card games then the RPG line.

Instead of being honest about it, they choose the route of smoke, innuendo, and half truths.

These people care nothing about us RPGr's... we are one time revenue makers for each book produced... so Decipher is showing the people that are making them the money, card gamers, and giving them the meat of their support.

If it were me, I normally would much more want to be associated with a company producing a Star Trek RPG than any other licensed one or most fantasy ones, but that doesn't mean I'd want to work for Decipher right now. As long as we're suggesting who Doug should work for, ( ) how about SJG or ADB?

Guys, Doug already has a "normal" day job; the NetRep gig is just on the side, long-distance, w/ Decipher.

I feel some small measure of responsibility as it was I that recommended Doug for the job three (?) years ago to Christian. Little did I know that Doug would take the kind of abuse that he has over the years and would receive no compensation.
