Eastbound and down, loaded up and flyin'

It's time for my next rotation to the middle east. Not sure if I'll be able to access this site from our base in Iraq, so don't think I've abandoned you if you don't hear from me for a few months.

I second that! Come back safe and sound Sarge. Good luck!

And I hope you don't have to transport to many air-sick recruits and aspirants this time

...And let's hope that the second half of Sea Tyger's naval allusion remains a pleasantry and does not become a deciding factor in anything... I mean, considering you're flying and all.

    Come back unperforated, eh?

Although, it'd be interesting to see a Herky-Pig hitching a ride on a Nimitz...

Phoenix, you don't have to picture it, you just have to dig up some old navy footage. When the C-130 was new, lo, those many decades ago, the navy considered using it to supply carriers at sea. They tested it on a carrier and were able to make several takeoffs and landings. But, even a Herk couldn't operate off a carrier deck and still carry enough payload to make it worth the effort, so the idea was dropped. Still, the film is amazing. At one point, the camera focused on the side of the Herkybird, where some wiseguy had chalked the line, "LOOK, MA, NO TAILHOOK".

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone, and I'll be in touch when I can.
