Unhappy 8.5 Quake in SE Asia Sea

I know it might be too much to hope that this one isn't as bad as last time, but here's hoping

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - A large earthquake struck off Indonesia's Sumatra Island in the Andaman Sea late Monday, and the U.S. Geological Survey said it was a major quake measuring a magnitude of 8.2.

Thai officials issued a warning of a possible tsunami, three months after a tsunami devastated parts of Indonesia and other countries in the region. The quake occurred at 11:09 p.m. local at a depth of nearly 19 miles, the USGS in Golden, Colo., said.

Japan's Meteorological Agency measured the quake at magnitude 8.5.
A brave little theory, and actually quite coherent for a system of five or seven dimensions -- if only we lived in one.

I just watched news and there they said no Tsunami was triggered. If it had, it had arrived already. Since it did no, they assume no Tsunami was caused.
However the quake as such caused enough deads, around 100 is assumed.

It's been upgraded to 8.7, nearly 300 dead.

Yeah, but we don't want to get scolded by a Thailand government official again, so to cover all the bases, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center of Hawaii have urged everyone in the surrounding coastlines to move to inland toward higher ground.

Sighs. FWIW, at least those asian countries are going to get their civil defense warning systems built for free, courtesy of UN.

I had read there was a teeny tiny tsunami, but it wasn't significant enough to be registered in most cases, but it was measured as far away as Australia!

I feel greatly for those people who thought their worlds might turn up again.. it's not helping the healing process!

You're not speculating that the two events are biblical, are you, Cybrludite?

Unfortunately, nature waits for no one.
