Thread: The Centaurans?

  1. #1

    Question The Centaurans?

I apologize if this question seems silly, frivilous, or easily researched. But I have done as much research as my overtaxed patience can endure.

Have the Centaurans (or Alpha Centaurans or Alpha Centaurians, if you will) been officially or even unofficially written up for the CODA version of the Star Trek game? If so, where?

If they've been written up officially by Decipher, I suspect them to be either in the Operations Manual or the Aliens sourcebook. But I don't know which one since I've never EVER seen a listing of the new races detailed on those two books.

If either of them feature the Centaurans, I will definately go the FRPGames and buy the book. But I need to know which book to buy, since I cannot afford both books at the moment (I intend to buy the other book later on).

    Thanks so much in advance!

The Centaurans are in the Starfleet Operations Manual, though I'd recommend bying Aliens too, it's got lots of nice goodies in there worth the price

    Excellent!

It's the less expensive of the two books too.

Yes, I intend to buy the Aliens book too, since more character options for both players and Narrators is always a good thing in my thinking. But right at the moment, I can only afford one of the two books. I will purchase Aliens in a few weeks.

Thank you so much for the quick response!

Funny, I don't remember any aliens from Alpha Centuari with incredibly big hair that dressed like Prussians
A brave little theory, and actually quite coherent for a system of five or seven dimensions -- if only we lived in one.

You know, for a founding species of the UFP, you see very little of them. I wonder why that is?

Because they look a lot like humans. Half the Enterprise's human crew could've been Centaurans and we wouldn't have known it.

I posted my own version of the Centaurans here which is more in line with the way they were described in The Price of Freedom for ICON.

Not trying to be a stick in the mud, but I'm having a bit of a brain spasm. Can someone please tell me where it was explicitly stated that the Alpha Centaurans were ever actually a founding member? The only mention I recall of them was in the FJTM.

I'm not trolling. I'm genuinely curious, and I genuinely can't remember.

It has never been shown on any Star Trek Series' Episodes about the Alpha Centuria except that Cochran lived there. While the Enterprise series hints that it the Vulcans, Andorians and Tellarites as the founders of the Federation as mostly we see little of the Federation founding conference in the Enterprise episode "These Are the Voyages...".

It is not even stated any where that those living on Alpha Centuri are any thing but human. The only episodes that deal with Alpha Centuri is TOS episode "Metamorphosis" and DS9 episode "Past Tense, Part I". Each of which only mention the system. Of course which complicates things is the fact it is a trinary. The Star Trek website states that "One of its components is Alpha Proxima."

The Alpha Centurians are yours as what to do with as you want. They could just be resettled humans like the Bringloidi or Mariposans of Up The Long Ladder. Each of these human groups are bizarrely listed under the aliens section of the Star Trek.com Library. You would think there would be a section for organizations and groups like for the Bringloidi, Mariposans, Section 31, ASDB, etc.

Well . . . I guess like with several other things . . . this leaves a large Galaxy Class Size whole in Cannon. . .

    alpha centauri

I've never come across anything implying the centaurans were established anywhere in any episodes, and enough ancillary info to state the centaurans as a native species probably aren't there...
