These Stats would be. . .

I have a character I would like to add from another RPG system I found on-line, but am having a problem converting the stats. If anyone could help me understand them I'd be thankful for the help. (Sorry, I can't even say which system these are from.) Just a small example. . .

    Attribute Dice: 12D
    Strength: 3D/5D
    Perception: 1D+2/3D+2

Okay, totally lost. What? I roll 3D and divide the result by the reslut of 5D? For the Perception I do the same but add two to each result? Attribute dice? How does, "Attribute Dice: 12D" figure into the problem?

Conversion from one system to another (LUG in this instance) is far from exact, but if anyone can point me in the general direction from this example it would be a great help in converting the entire character.

    THANKS!

It looks like Star Wars or another West End Games d6 System RPG (Legend/Prime, Classic). Based on the D after the stat's number. Not sure about the Attribute dice nor the double stat numbers. Here is Owen's ST:Universe Game Conversion Table if it turns out they are d6 System stats.

Looks like a version of West End's D6 System - it's probably one of the modern incarnations, as the Star Wars edition I have gives a PC 18D in Attributes and 7D in Skills. As I understand it, the Attributes: 12D refers to the number of dice (D6's, naturally) you have to divide between the various Attributes. The Strength: 3D/5D and Perception: 1D+2/3D+2 would give the average and maximum starting dice for the Attributes (maximum beginning Attributes are 2D above the average for a species). The +2 on the Perception Attribute is a fractional die - each die can be split into three points, either three +1's or a +1 and a +2.

More info on the D6 System can be had at: http://www.westendgames.com/

The new D6 Prime Directive will be using a version of the D6 System.

Thanks guys. I tend to find a lot of other RPG stuff on-line from other games that I add to our game. Owen's site is always the first place I look when starting a conversion. Hrm, I found a few .pdfs on the westendgames page that may be of some help.

    Again, thanks guys!

The caveat with the SWD6 system was that, player characters had 6 additional dice for base attributes. Thus, humans (average attributes of 2D across the board) would be a 12D race, but PCs would have a base of 18D.

Well, after further investigation I learned that it is a WEG: SW item. A herglic character to be exact. And to my surprise I was given a .pdf of the revised and expanded WEG:SW book, so I should be set.

So who is making the curent SW RPG if WEG: SW is no more? Just curious. Also, after looking it over last night, am I correct in my assumption that this is the sytem often called the "bucket o' dice" system?

    Thanks again.

Wizards of the Coast. Star Wars D20, of course.

Yep. That's the one. A high-powered Jedi spending a force point can be pretty... interesting...
