    State of the FBR

With school quickly coming to a close I feel that I must make a few anouncements.

Firstly, I want to thank Don and Magnus for making the transfer of the Trek RPG net forums smooth and quick. I feel that they did the best for the community as a whole and should be commended. Secondly, you all probably were not witnesses to this, Magnus and I have maintained a good working relaitonship between the two boards and agreed that there would be no rivalry or competition between the two. All in all everyone was satisfied with what happened.

Now, on to more pressing news. I have been approached by a few of my friends becuase of my linux experience. They came up with the idea of leasing a dedicated server and then distributing that out to customers. With that in mind, and supposing that it happens, the FBR may experience 1-3 weeks downtime at some point this summer. I am not positive when this will happen yet, but when Iam sure I will include more details.

Finally, the closure of the site tonight. I have a little surprise that I am working on. I am not positive if I will be able to finish all planned upgrades tonight, but I will bring the site back online after the optimizations are complete. Basically there will be spotty downtime tonight and tomorrow. Have no fear though, I am just working on a backlog of projects that I promised the community. All in all you all are a great community, and I just wanted to post this news update.

Well, there goes our backup plan. Magnus better keep this board running hot through the summer.
    Anyhoo, just some random thoughts...

I'll install some extra bunks until FBR are ready to leave the dry-dock again.

That's the plan (The good thing with moving is that I will not be able to afford to go anywhere on my vacation, so I will have a lot of opportunities to check that everything is running within normal parameters )
