First game session at last & few questions

I just held my first TREK RPG session last weekend and that was great fun
I'm using the CODA system (with a few tweaks here and there)

Here is how my group look like.

    Human (Flight control)
    Cardassian (Engineering)
    Human (Medical)
    Vulcan (Science)

The setting is 2347, they start as 3rd year cadets at the academy. The Setlik 3 massacre & beggining of the (?cold) war against Cardassia are soon to occur.
Then i'm not sure yet what will happen when they're out of the academy.

I have a few questions tho

    1) What do you people think of the advantage Skill Focus when picked with 2 skills with no specialty compared to Fit, Thinker or Friendly ?
Skill focus might be interesting for skills with a specialty but not for 2 skills without specialty. Cos imo +1 to a whole bunch of skills is better then +1 on two skills. Or maybe i'm missing something
Well i'd like to know if any of you guys changed that edge maybe.

    2) I can't seem to find the unarmed combat damage anywhere, anyone could help me and give me the page in the book where i can find it ? Found melee & ranged weapon damage but not unarmed combat

    3) About martial arts, i find that system really interesting but there are only a few combat styles. Anyone bothered to convert the styles from ICON player's guide or from the nice PDFs for ICON that someone kindly made available some time ago on this forum ?

    Any help is appreciated

I'll prolly have more questions in two weeks after our next TREK session

    Edit : a few typos

    1) First, if you have doubts about a player taking those edges, then don't allow it without justification in past events of the game. Second, yes those edges are powerful, but can only be taken a maximum of twice (includes Trait Upgrade). A character would take the Skill Focus to get a general bonus to his entire skill, so it would be applied for all tests of that skill, which can be a good thing for oft used skills.

    2) Unarmed Damage = 1d6+ Strength mod

    3) If you don't already have Starfleet Ops Manual, get it. If not, I think there were some fan-made supplements here with additional martial arts. In my CODA BSR (see top link in sig), I've added a few things for combat traits.

    Ok thanks for the answers

As for unarmed combat damage thats what i used last time but i couldn't find it in my books, if you have any idea what page it is that'd be nice.

And yeah i have the starfleet operations manual but there are only a few martial arts.

Nice job on the BSR, printed it a few minuts ago ^^

Btw i'll soon convert/create some martial arts for major species, if you want to publish them in the next BTFF

The PG listed unarmed damage as 1d3+Str modifier. The 1d6+Str is from the erratta.

Couple of months, probably around December for the next issue. I've got buying a new house and outlining HOF #23 and HOF's second anniversary to contend with right now, other than the fact that I need to come up with content for the zine and its harder with Star Trek than LOTR for me and my layout artist typically has a lot of paying work on his plate.
