Beyond the Final Frontier: Brikar Species

I really lofe this species, and one of my players wants to play a Brikar.

But I have some questions for the creators of the stas of this race.

    1) Scilicon Physiology:
-It say that the base hand to Unarmed Damage = 1D6+Str. But this base damage is already 1D6+Str: see erratta. what should it be than (1D6+2+STR mod)?
-Damage Reduction 5: Does it works like armor (physical damage only)?

2)Molten Healing. Most Star Fleet issue (and indeed, most non-Fleet issue) medical treatments are of little use for Brikar:
*What does this mean for treating toxins and diseases?
*What does this mean for First Aid and Medicine Tests (penalties?): First Aid, Advanced treatment, and Surgery
*What does this mean for Medical Equipment: Autosuture, Dermal regenerator, and Drugs.

3)Limited regenerative ability of the Brikar physiology:
-Is this the regenerate ability(3) from the Narrator's Guide?

4)Brikar have a comparatively slow metabolisms which render them resistant to most toxins. Is this the Resistance ability (Toxin, 12) from the Narrator's Guide?

5)Grav Compensator Brikar require a specially constructed gravitic compensator to function off the Brikar homeworld (or worlds with similar gravity): Which penalty do they suffer when they do not wear this device or when it malfuntions?

6)All thier special abilities makes them incedible powerfull, so my question is simple:
Is this race sutible as PC race?

Hope that they can answer this questions?

This is the calculation I made to get the power in picks of this species.

For simulating the Sylicon Physiology I used the Mineral body ability( NG pg 218), but I removed the movement penalty and replaced it with the Healing penalty (No advanced Treatment/no bonuses form Autosuture, Dermal regenerator, and hypospray). I choose Str as Favored attribute (-1 pick cost) and acquired the resistance Toxins at 1/2 point cost.

    Species Adjustment Point Cost:
    Strength +4 = +12 points
    Agility -2 = -10 points
    Intellect –1 = -5 points
    Vitality +2 = +10 points

    Ability Point Cost:
Bonus Edge: High Pain Threshold = +2 points
    +2 bonus to Stamina = +6 points
Increased Unarmed Damage (waiting on the errata) = +2 points
Damage Reduction of 5 (See Armor NG pg 214) = +5 points
Hold Breath for 5 min/per stamina bonus = +2 points
Resistance to toxins (see Resistance NG pg 220) = +6 points
Limited regenerative ability (see Regenerate NG pg 220) = +3 points

Incapacitated or below enters a trance until all wounds are healed. = -5 points
    Grav Compensator = -5 points

    Total = 23

So this makes it a NPC character.

I was thinking about giving them a -1 perception because of their small eyes.
So the total cost comes up 18.
Does any body have any thoughts on this one?

I have not the time to look over thhings more closely, but as I like the Brikar myself, I will do so later this week-end. Just to let you know, that someone cares

Oh, and shouldn't the Headline read: Star Trek - New Frontier?

So, having not read the New Frontier books, can anyone tell me what the Brikar's thing is?

Thanks. I curious to see what your thoughts are on this matter.
The biggest problem is the healing penalty if you ask me.
They need to discribe it a little bit better.

I just wanted to refer to the stats they made in "Beyond The Final Frontier" nr 8 (pg 12) magazine.

They are a powerfull Sylicon based race, that has some problems with gravity.
This race was introduced in the person of Zak Kebron in the TNG Starfleet Academy "Worf Fisrt Adventure" book and later he was introduced as the U.S.S. as the ship's Tactical Officer and Security Chief of the USS Excalibur in the New Frontier books. Check these links below, they provide in insite into the Brikar race and there abilities.

So what's their purpose? What're they supposed to represent? What's their thing thematically?

Oh my, I have forgotten about this thread. Again, I have not the time to look more closely at it, but will remember to come back this time sometime tomorrow or maybe the week-end.

@Tat. King: The Brikar are a strange and mysterious species. The only known Brikar in the expanded Trekverse is the security officer of the New Frontier novel series by Peter David. It is a very, very solid race, hailing from a high gravity planet. They have a very dry sort of humor and seem to be made of rock. Literaly. It's an interesting species, indeed

I can see why you would think that, but no

You might look at this to learn more.

Go and read some New Frontier book, the Brikar is a fun character. Well not really in the storyline, but fun for the reader. You know what I mean
