    Whoah ...

I think that's the angriest thing I've ever seen you post here at the boards, Doug. The lack of words is frightening. The sentiment is shared, though. I'm glad I never did send any of my episodes in to them for the "worldwide camapign" thing.

For what it's worth, I've been out of contact with Decipher since the turn of the new year. I had done a lot of work on the LOTR RPG, including delivering edits on a revised quick-start adventure and several articles that were to be put up on the website for free downloads, but I've heard nothing from anyone at Decipher, after several regular emailings.

I was also working on a list of revisions for the LOTR core book, but stopped once I got a good impression that it would be a waste of time.

If Kieran has indeed moved on, I'm guessing there's no one at Decipher capable of getting stuff together. I could be wrong on that.

The final chapter on this whole mess is still being written, I guess.

Decipher strikes me as a company that is obviously poorly run with little or no direction, how did they ever get the licenses for two of the most popular movie and tv series gaming books?

Do the companies that own these licenses not see there is nothing being done with them?

Probably because, once upon a time, Decipher had smart people working for them.

Hard to say. I'm willing to bet that the income from a RPG license is a mere drop in the bucket when you're talking about two giant licenses like Star Trek and LOTR. I doubt New Line or Paramount/CBS/whoever are losing any sleep from the lack of minute cash the RPGs would bring them.

EDIT: Oh, hey, hit my 3,000th post. Whee!

That might be true if the big license-holding companies actually cared what RPG players thought about those who produce licensed games. We are just a minor drop in the bucket for royalty fees and the like. I might be off base here, but the impression I get from what I've heard about dealings with many of the big production companies like Paramount, Fox, etc. is that they're doing us more of a favor than the other way around by way of the delays constantly seen on their end when it comes to approving content and the like. Besides, just like the Star Wars minis game for WOTC as compared to the RPG, DEC's LOTR and ST TCG's make them and the licenseholders more money than RPGs any day.

EDIT: Darn you Ineti, you got to the tacky cliche before me:

At least you were able to help them get at least SOME products out.

I should hit them up for what they still owe me for Worlds, though...

Doug, I attribute it to your reputation here for standupguy-ishness! Yay, I invented a new compliment!
