This could be a incredible cop-out to explain things but.

If the Sublian guys are getting help from the future and (mentioned elsewhere) are a minor race that suddenly gets powerful.

Then its already apparent that the time line has been altered. Not that'll help Enterprise until they run into these guys and start picking up some of their tech.

Rick Berman just lowered the bar again. And I fear to what else he has in store for the trek franchise.

The more you deny it KlingonZ, the more sure I am that you DO work for Paramount. My initial comment was mean t as a joke but you have since denyed a link in any post proclaiming how great this show will be.

For the record I intend to watch the pilot and base my true judgement on that, but so far Berman and Paramount seem to be doing all they can to cloud my judgement by their silence on the matter...

So I can and will wait, but to be honest I am not expecting great sci-fi, I am expecting a pile of horse shit designed to get money out of us in merchandising... Thing is I can wait for this, it does not fill me with excitement and anticipation... Whic is a bad thing for them as it shows their marketting department has FAILED in their task!

And before I am accused of being negative, I would like to state for the record that I had a similar negative opinion of Farscapoe and I LOVE that show! So if they blow me away, I will freely admit I am wrong.

    Cool

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">...it also dosen't look anything like the Daedalus-class which was top of the line in ENTERPRISE's era, they have jumped about one full design generation.

And I truly Thank the powers that be at Paramount for that that little mercy. .

1] Regarding canon. So far, they have not violated anything canonical in any major way (with the possible but as yet unconfirmed timing of the Cochrane recording). Klingon first contact is not canonically in 2218. In fact, canonically, it's never been established. Klingon appearance has already been canonically established as being ridge-headed even prior to TOS (ref. Kahless). Starfleet as a term for the exploratory agency pre-UFP? Unorthodox, but not contra-canon. It could be the Terran Starfleet, as opposed to the Federation Starfleet. No issue.

    hey it ate my post!

My Canon problem with the Klingon first contact is that in the episodes with the Malcorans (I believe) Ryker states that the prime directive was created because of disasterous first contact with the Klingons, which lead to war.

So, according to spoilers, we meet the Klingons and don't go to war? It's a minor issue sure, but it'd be so easy to fix.

Use a different race. How about Andorians? It'd fit the warrior profile, and the different physiology necessary to add the alien doctor.

Ok, if nobody likes my crisis/relaunch idea to make this Show more palatable, here's a new idea.

The big person from the future has been manipulating the timestream for a while, and has altered things to make this take place now. (Adding Akira design elements, Transporters and Phasers too early, altering Klingon first contact.)

To what end? I'm not a TV writer, but I'd like to see Evil Admiral Janeway from the Future. She's trying to alter history, to make the Federation more able to survive dealing with troubles in the 24th century. Dealing with the self manipulating aliens will give a leg up on dealing with the Founders. A nice meeting with the Klingons sets us up to be friends earlier, and by giving technological help, the tech advancements that that war might bring would not be necessary.

The stronger, more advanced Federation would be more able to deal with things in the Delta Quadrant, and Janeway would have been much happier, giving her motive.

    What do you think

    Alex

Yeah, I hope the klingon situation is a result of temporal manipulation. Janeway as the culprit is acceptable, but I'd prefer Braxton. Another thing, maybe Phlox should be Andorian.

Enterprise will dubute September 26 at 2100 hrs. I would like to know what all of you consider canon or cannon or whatever. Encyclopedia is over priced but quotes all the movies and all TV shows. Can anyone respond without getting yourself all lathered up?

Yes, Pacific Time. The date is firm, 09/26/01. The time will be 2000 or 2100 hrs, yet to be determined.

Canon is what's onscreen, and for me that means also the Encyclopedia, since everything there is from the shows.

    Connery would be cool.

Only one hitch to that, Cochrane. A lot of the information in the Encyclopedia and the Chronology are conjectural, based on information given or statements made on screen.

Therefore, not everyhtiung in it is canon. I do believe the date for Klingon First Contact is one of those self-admitted conjectures.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure. I'll check the chronology when I get home from work...

    Question

OK Doug Burke, Just what do you consider Canon? If it is mentioned or talked about on screen or tv is it not canon? What is your difintion of canon. If the Encyclopedia is not canon then what is and what is your refrence?

Okay, I gove up, I have seen the Interview with Scott Bakula, it was their in the engineering room, up on the Schematic board, much like in Next Gen, this is the real deal. You would think they would try to give a passing nod to Mark Jefferies for one of his orginal designs, But no, they went to some other direction.
