    Exclamation Hey Fellas...and Gals!

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet.

But I've done a bit of effort with the trek sector maps I've been doing.

What I really want is some feedback or critism! Anything reply would have meaning and thus letting me make modifications.

If I don't hear from anyone I just assume my maps are perfect and everyone is happy.

But seriously, check it and tell me yea or nae? Whats good and whats not!

Help a poor old mapmaker down on his luck

    Thumbs up

Well Mr. MapMaker, I have no clue about the accuracy of your map canon-wise.

How about showing some political boundaries on the map, even if only in a rough, sketchy form? That way one would get a bit more of a feeling about dimensions and what goes where, etc.

Still, overall a good job I guess. How long did it take you to get this far with your map?

Very nice Sig, but...uh, where are Andoria, Tellar and Vulcan? I might have missed them.

    Cool

Hats off to you Sir Sig! The Map looks great! Yes, a few boundaries might help as long they are subtle. Will the empty space by populated by more stars? Wonderful job!

Okay hate to point it out but if you saw the original thread I had a map with very rough political lines.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Fedsiz...upwiththat.JPG

Lancer: Assuming my interpretation of the sector arrangement is correct (I think it is, most stars line up with their sectors) then just about every sector on the map is canon.
    * A few I had to tweak to put in a 'more comfortable' position with hindsight of political boundaries and speeds of veesels.
    * Eg. A runbout gets to sector 401 from DS9 now thats a few hundred light years. So to make more sence (why send a runabout to survey so far away?) I changed the 401 to 501 which puts it just 4-5 sectors (80ly) from Ds9.
    * Now I admit I had to do this with about 5-6 sectors out of the 20odd canon mentioned ones. But I think there new positions are more 'politcally correct'.
    * I'll send a 'corrections list' if anyone wants to see?
    * Time? Well since I hit apon the idea of this sector layout that works then 3-4 weeks, doing a little bit every now and then. Although getting this large map in to the computer was about a weeks worth.

StyroFoam Man:Size would roughly be about 1800ly radius from Sol.

Phantom: They're there. Look right in the center around Sol. Accuracy is a bit hard on this scale so a star's position is in a tolerance of about +/- 10 ly but definately in the right sector.

Dave: Yes i've been busy . This was only my first update. More stars to come. Accurate locations for distant stars is hard to come by. I need a script to convert RA & Dec to cordinates. (its a really big/complex formula)

Qerlin: Carddie space how so? You mean from previous maps? (More though and insight makes a better map ) As to their current size, its coming from the sectors so...
    * Its already a .JPG, and only about 300k. Browsers or E-groups is just slow to load it.

    Yes! Feedback at last

    Stay tuned!

Looks pretty good, but I notice your moving the Cardie space around a bit.

Suggestion, get this thing into .jpeg format soon -- the file is mother huge.

Now, if only those maps were about 1 20th the size, so I could print them out on a normal-sized printer...

If only I had a computer faster than a 233 MMX here at work. My nasty old 1 MB video card took forever to process the darn thing. Sigh.

Thanks for the political boundaries, they help a lot.

    Looks good.
