    Series Villain Help (Creation Problem)

Hi there. I have a small(ish) problem with creating a recurring villain for my new series. He's a Centurion in the Romulan Empire - who is also human. He was raised from about 1 month old by a Romulan Commander who took pity on him, which has given me a few problems with creating him. I'm going to use the Alien Upbringing package for personal development, but obviously he won't gain any species adjustments, or the Keen Hearing edge.

Should I give him the other edges associated with the Romulan species, and maybe a flaw like Reckless, as he tries to impress his 'fellow' Romulans? and what elements of his human side should he retain?

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well, what do you want him to do?

Species-wise, he should be human, with all racial abilities and everything. For species skills, I'd give him Romulan-based ones and give him the Alien Upbringing package from Aliens for Personal Development.

What i'd like him to do in the series is at first be hostile towards my crew, but as they encounter him more, and the more he sees human reactions and ideals, slowly begin to change, maybe not loving humans, but i want the crew to definately see his changing opinions, and the emergence of some humanity.

and thanks for pointer Doug, it's cleared up a headache for me!

Some advantages/flaws are based on genetics aka keen hearing, some are based purelly on society, such as Vesala, which Cardassians posess. I can't remember what Romulans get exactly, but if he gets species adjustments based on skills rather than just his genetics there's no reason he shouldn't have them...

Of course there is always genetic engineering or surgery. He might actually appear to be Romulan?!

As a commander, who's human, in a Romulan Space fleet he's bound to have built up a lot of flaws over the years, as well as skills. He will have faced an enormous amount of prejudice, and either thrived on it, or become more sensitive to it but in either case, he is likelly to kick rather than be kicked, which I guess is where the PCs come in!

It would be interesting to see him interact with Sela and Shinzon!

With regards to the flaws he'd have gained, He'll definately be gaining Rival (His rival is in command of another ship in the sector), Familiar Face (representing that he'd stand out amongst 'other' Romulans), Arrogant (he did grow up with the most Arrogant race in the Quadrant) and edge wise most likely Species Friend & Competitive.

Tobian: You mentioned how he'd react with Sela and Shinzon, for those I can't be sure (the series is set in 2296) but around 'other' Romulans he is snappy, demanding and cruel almost to the point of being racist. If the crew pick up on that it could be a serious advantage!

I'm starting the series in two weeks, so I can't wait to see the PC's faces when he steps into the screen!

EDIT: With regards to his ears; he's always liked to be different!
