Thread: Romulan Copy of the Defiant

Post Romulan Copy of the Defiant

Here is a copy of the Defiant class starship that is in service in my game... It has never been converted into Spacedock, I suppose I should consider it. Nor has there ever been a picture of it.

    BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
Nobody has ever accused the Romulans of running an ineffective intelligence service, in fact the Tal Shiar has struck terror into the hearts of the stoutest space-goers… The D'Dredar is an example of their effectiveness.
When the USS Defiant was refitted and launched for duties in the Gamma quadrant, Starfleet approached the Romulans with the concept of fitting the vessel with a cloaking device to increase its effectiveness as the lone Alpha and Beta quadrant ship working in the Gamma quadrant.
The deal was struck, and in exchange for the cloaking device, which was to be operated by Romulan Personnel, on the first officer exchange programme between the two powers. In return, the Romulans would gain access to the valuable data collected in the Gamma quadrant, especially that on the Dominion.

However they gained more than that, in an effort to preserve their secrets Romulan technicians fitted the cloaking device. Making it an integral part of the ships operating systems. These technicians then returned with valuable data concerning the latest Starfleet ship, a highly capable warship with several new weapons systems.

The Romulans decided that the platform was valid and with only a few modifications adjusted the spaceframe for Romulan systems such as the Quantum singularity drive and the newly developed Singularity torpedo's, designers adding a very few 'touches' to the finished ship.

The ship looks uncannily similar to a Defiant class vessel. The Warhead has been replaced with a Romulan style 'bird head' control area, where the Ships Bridge lies. And the Defiant's 'stubby' wings are replaced with a somewhat more graceful looking set, tipped with the warp nacelles, they mount the 4 Pulse Phased Disrupters co-axially, 2 per wing. The large centre where the bridge is mounted on the Defiant now houses a larger computer core and more spacious shuttlebay.
And of course the vessel is constructed in the funky green metal that Romulan ships are all made of.

I hope someone does take a stab at a picture, this sounds really neat, Sounds very Romulan. "Oh yeah, sure, we got an extra cloaking device. Problem is, it rattles alot, hows'about we throw in a service technician at no additional charge? Plus, we'll even give free regular maintenance - every three thousand lightyears swing by one of our many convenient starbases and we'll download... err...diagnostic data from it to see if its up to specs... While we're at it, tell Mr. LaForge we have some improvements we can throw in to his VISOR for no additional charge."

Actually someone did send me a couple of Profile Sketches...

Antonsb214 from these boards had them to me the same day, and one indeed did look exactly as I wanted it too... Better even.

I will put the two together into a word document and send it to the TrekRPG submissions, and to anyone interested...

Yo, right here. Always like a picture to go with a new ship...especially Romulans.

My profile address should be up to date. Send me a copy when you are able.

You may want to consider taking the sketches over to 3d Gladiators and seeing if anyone would be willing to do up a 3d Model of it...they love to do Rommie ships

I hope everyone likes the sketch. I also did modernized versions of the 3rd gen Romulan ships from Starfleet Command. Now, those look cool. I have also done dozens of other starship designs, Fed, Klingon, and some with influences from anime i.e. Big Battlecruisers. I also like the designs from Starfleet Command, I know they're not "canon" but I'm the GM and they look cool. I'm still trying to figure out if I want the Romulans to keep their plasma torpedoes in the TNG era. Those bad boys do a LOT of damage (a couple of shots took out a Neutral Zone outpost in "Balance of Terror").
I also made starship counters to use with my rpg to keep track of ships. One sheet for starfleet and one for adversary/ally ships. About 30 counters per sheet. I had 15 different classed of Starfleet vessels. And a lot of adversaries, except for Ferengi. I suppose I'll put them on a merchant ship sheet.
If anyone would like samples of my work just e-mail me and I'll get 'em to you ASAP.
If it seems that I'm taking too long, I have to tell you that my grandmother is in the hospital, she's 94 and wasn't eating or drinking enough and we were spending the afternoon convincing her to stay in the hospital until the blood clots in her leg are taken care of. This situation has taken up my time for the last few days.

Here's what I told Dan after seeing the pic.

Mind you its more like a birdlike exoskeleton on a defiant rather then a integrated structure.

Aparently its Romulan parentage is rather obvious. Wouldn't they try to wrap it up better?

Not that I'm knocking the pic, just from a Trek perspective.

Just received the info on the D'Hadarrin Prototype. The artist did an excellant job, exactly what I imagined from the description. A very nice little design.

BTW where did you get the name D'Hadarrin? Have you come up with a definition of D'Hadarrin?
