    Wilbur class deckplans.

Anyone save the pics for the deckplans for this ship found in this thread?

    http://forum.trek-rpg.net/showthread...=defiant+class

The link to the deck plans are broken now.

Well, obviously the first deck is a tank.

I mean, what do you expect from a class named 'Wilbur'? : P

So have you used this in game? Has the designed proven its worth?

Golly, that is an interesting ship.

Looking at the side, front/back, and top/bottom views whick are still on the server, I wonder if Deck One is reall nessicary: IMO it disturbs the lines of the ship, and I would try to incorporate the bridge into Deck Two (and renumber all decks accordingly).

Not to burst the bubble of the original designer, but a class of vessel named for the USS Wilbur Wright would be the Wright Class, most likely. The only way this gets named the "Wilbur" Class is if they intend to name every one of them after someone named Wilbur (rater like the Royal Navy's "Girl" Class destroyers, which simple all recieved female names like Laverne or Susan).

If nobody saved the deckplans, does anybody feel up to creating some?

Edit: here's a link to the same thread, but with the "highlight" removed so it won't make every use of the word "Class" red. http://forum.trek-rpg.net/showthread.php?t=10010

Thanks for the linky cleanup Spy. I've done up CODA stats and will post them shortly.
And JALU, no i just found this while looking for something unrelated. Just thought it was odd that the shematics are there but the deckplans are MIA. But I would agree. embedding the bridge similar to the defiant is a good idea considering the ship is pretty big with just the 14 crew.

I thought I'd cobble up something useable in the way of deckplans, so I spent the evening thinking about it, then sat down with the images and some graph papaer to work.

This highlighted to me some things that are a little broken, both about this ship and it's write-up.

There are no impulse engines visable on the image, and nowhere to place them.
assuming the tube at the back of the bridge module houses the ladder (or turbolift, or whatever), the access to/from the bridge pretty much has to lead directly to Main Engineering. (look at the warp core ejection hatch, and remember that you need to fit the shuttlebay aft of there).

Speaking of the shuttlebay, it can be only slightly longer than a type 6 shuttle (6 meters), although it can be wide enough to park 4 side by side (heck, the door is wide enough to move them all in or out at once if you don't mind bumping).

The bridge module is about 14.5 meters in diameter. The interior for most modular bridges (Excelsior, Ent-A, Ent-B, Prometheus, Equinox) appears to be about 10m, and the Defiant appears to be about 9m counting the consoles' depth. So, it can easilly hold some of the biggest bridges, but doesn't really have much room for anything else (like a Ready Room).

The bridge access appears to be at the aft point of the bridge module, which doens't match any known bridge. The best shot at using an existing bridge is to use the Defiant bridge, but put the ladder down where the "planning table" at the back is.

Barring runabouts, the Defiant has the smallest Engineering room and Computer Core of any ship we've seen. Those two components basicly fill this ship top-to-bottom from just ahead of the midline back to the shuttle bay: the space under the bridge is filled by Main Engineering and the Computer Core, all the way down to the hull.

In the write-up, the biggest problem is the crew.
It was given quarters for 18, counting guests, but lists at over 1000 SUs.
In Spacedock, various classes are given a "crew per 100 SU" figure, and the smallest of these (Transport, Escort, or Courier) are given a 3, which would work out to a crew of 30 on a 1000SU ship.

If you adjust the crew to match the needs of the ship's systems, you wind up with figures much more like those for a Nova Class ship, which points out that Starfleet has an existing ship filling exactly that niche already.

To have a crew of 15 or so, this ship (which I will generaously class as a "Scout") can only use about 250-300 SUs, which basicly means cutting back the systems to the point that you go, "and this is better than a Runabout how, exactly?"

Which is a shame, because I really liked the idea.

Well the impulse engines are the 2 red squares next to the shuttle bay in the aft view. At least that's what they look like to me.

I tried emailing HighwayHoss but it got returned from unable to find his email addy.
