I agree, Leave it as is, Mr. Cook.

It's MORE THAN kind of cool to know that all of these for real, published designers are here.

Gives encouragement to those of us with only one or two gaming articles published in tiny, miniscule publications that virtually no one has ever heard of.

When I had a chance to talk to S. John Ross in another venue, asking about "Way of the Clans," it was sort of like talking to Smaug, asking about the Ecology of Dragons.

Actually, my "professional" credits are pretty much in miniscule publications that virtually no one has ever heard of.

I much prefer just writing stuff and putting it out on the 'net for folks to use if they like it.

LQ, if you want to, I can merge your two accounts together into one.

    C. Huth, PM me with what you would like to change to and why, if you are serious. Or maybe you want to change it because you don't feel serious these days?

Personally, considering how things turned out, I am quite happy that I didn't registered as Green Smurf or something similar

Bless you, Cap'n! If you could do that I'd be most grateful.

    Cheers,

As a new member I've started two threads and basically been verbally pummelled as I've raised what should be fairly inocuous issues/topics. I think this has got to be one of the least friendly forums I've ever been on!

I have to disagree. In a friendly way. This is the number one of all the internet forums in terms of friendly behaviour. There is little to no harrassment or flaming and you can ask nearly everything and are more likely to recieve an answer than not. Even if your topic has been mulled over before.

Just stick around a bit and don't get too stressed, when a thread doesn't take an expected turn. We have all led a thread astray with some off-topic posting.

It has happend and will happen again (and to be honest: It is happening right here and now )

So just stick to the boards and it's members and give 'em another shot. TrekRPG.net forums are definately a good place to be!

PS: If you're not convinced, that this one's a friendly I can PM you the URL of the boards of my favorite german soccer team. There you'll find some unfriendly ppostings and users and some ridiciously heavy moderating. No, this here is paradise...

Uhm... having looked over the threads you've been pummelled on - it was the nicest pummeling I've ever seen Seriously though: This forum is full of dedicated and passionate Trek nerds; What did you expect? People simply debated the issue, you weren't flamed or trolled. I don't know where you've been before ( www.mylittlepony.com ? ), but we are a pretty friendly bunch, even if we do get carried away in our own points of view

I have to agree - these threads don't rank very high on the inflammatory thread scale. Some reactions may be a bit harsh, but I don't think they really can be called a pummeling. This forum has its bad memories (like the "Starfleet marines", "Is CODA D20 ?" or "Is Enterprise good" threads), but on the whole it remains on of the most civil I know (and without a heavy handed moderation either).

And another thing I like is that here, ppl dno't writ lik that.
"The main difference between Trekkies and Manchester United fans is that Trekkies never trashed a train carriage. So why are the Trekkies the social outcasts?"

I most have missed those. I would have loved to read them, as I have just been given my very first D&D corebooks as a brithday present. Haven't found them in a search though.

I totaly agree with that. Correct English makes it much more easier for non native speakers to read and participate.

But alas I'm far to slow typing English, so almost everytime I start to reply or voice my opinion I usually find my point of view already posted here.

Well I could start learning to type much more faster...

My standard "we're all very friendly here" welcome to this board used to include, "... and if you want to see us at our very worst, just use the Search function and type in the keyword 'marines'."

Seriously, it is best described as heated debate: no one resorted to name-calling or anything.

I have since found a few other message boards where people are as adult, polite, and civil as they are here, but this board will always hold a place in my heart as the first one I found.
Most other boards suffer from what Penny Arcade called the "Internet F***wad Syndrome" (referring to X-Box Live, I think, but it applies everywhere): Normal Person + Total Anonymity = Complete F***wad.
Put another way, freed of the possability of being shamed in their home town or punched in the face for their behavior, people tend to turn into jerks.

Who's the guy who's sig is "God, grant me the ability to punch someone in the face over a standard TCP/IP connection"? Amen, brother.

(Edit: I just want to note that I did not type naughty words above: I typed an F and then a few asterisks (these thingies: *). Part of behaving yourself is keeping the talk to PG levels if kiddies might be reading. A good board shouldn't need software to censor posts.)
You're a Starfleet Officer. "Weird" is part of the job.

We're hip-deep in alien cod footsoldiers. Define 'weird'.
(I had this cool borg smiley here, but it was on my site and my isp seems to have eaten my site. )

If I recall correctly that sig was featured by our 'bouncing forum cat' BouncyCaitian I might be wrong, though
