Hello. I used to play the old FASA Trek and Doctor Who back in the day, and I'm looking for a FASA to Coda conversion. Partly for the old Trek modules, etc., but also for Doctor Who. FASA's games were good, but nowadays seem really bogged down as far as the mechanics are concerned. I've got some friends itching to play both, particularly Doctor Who.
Overall it is a pretty decent set of guidelines for conversion to LUG/ICON. Then use Don's ICON to CODA conversion guidelines (download the pdf) to get stats for CODA.
Just remember that you need to keep the spirirt and abilities of the orginal character concept in mind while doing the conversions. If a character used to go toe to toe with Klingons in FASA, you need to give him the unarmed combat specilaties and key traits so that he can do the same in CODA.
For the Doctor Who stuff you sort of need to tweak stuff to FASA Trek (pretty much multiply scores by 10/3 or try 2xLevel-2 ). Also, keep in mind that FASA's WHO system capped stats to a 1-30 scale, meaning that you didn't have any superhuman abilities.
Or, you can try to do an "eyeball it" type of conversion. Look at the character stats, consider what they mean in the orginal game, and try to duplicate the same effect in CODA. In the long run, it depends on how many characters/creatures you are attempting to convert and how the difference in stats relates in the different systems.
