    Tricky's Temporal Insanity

Well, last week I bought the LUG All Our Yesterdays and the Star Fleet Operations Manual; both really good reads (althogh the SFOM was REALLY thin). And, of course, my brain started fusing them together. So i started to come up with some ideas; call them campaign/adventure/series seeds, whatever. They are not entirely original, but enough Trek flavor to make them interesting.

    Quantum Trek:

Ok, we all know both shows. In this version, a group of characters (the cast) is exposed to a temporal anomally, or maybe they are experimenting with temporal tech. But what ever the case, they discover themselves in new bodies, at some point in their lifetimes (which would be no big thing if they were all Ocampa, but if you have just one El-Auian you could be anywhen!!). They soon realize that something is going to go horribly wrong if they don't act. Once they discover and fix that event, they are suddenly dislocated into a new set of bodies, eventually (hopefully) making the LEAP home.

If you feel the need for an "AL" character, you could have them contacted through the timeline by someone from the Timefleet, Departmen of Temporal Incursions, one of the Temporal Cold War Factions, etc.

The Good thing about this is that you technically dont have to make up new stats for your characters each adventure. And you can, if there are 'old enough' members of the cast, hit just about every era in Trek that you might want to.

Tales of the Temporal Cold War

This one is a little less cut and dried. The cast is a group of individuals activly acting as agents of one of the TCW factions. They are moved around the timeline, protecting it from incursions and (major) alterations. I see 2 ways that they could have been recruited:
Mind wiped agents from 29th-31st century:
They are members of the faction; they have been trained to take care of themselves and interact with the people in the past, but they cannot remember anything but the simplest details of their lives, in an effort to reduce their effect on the time line. They aren't even sure how long they've been at this, or when they get out. For real evil's sake, let at least one reoccuring bad guy know most of the things they don't know. And make sure he rubs it in. A lot.

    Regular folk, unstuck in time:
These people come from just about any era. They were rescued by the faction, but they have been asked to protect the timeline from major disruptions, and maybe they can eventually be sent home. They use their skills and knowledge to do this. At some point, they should start to realize; "How can they send us back after all we've done and seen? Won't WE be a danger to the timeline?"

    Trek-iles
A merger of one of my Fave comics (Exiles) and Trek. In this idea, members of different Alternate timelines are sent by some agency (near omnipotent being, crossdimentional aliens, members of the 41st century DimentionFleet) to help stop alternate timelines from getting off track. So, for example, you get a communist Ferenghi, a Starfleet officer from a Roman Earth, a Borg from the beneificent collective, a Cardassian mystic and a Klingon soldier (hey, some stuff in alternate realities is the same everywhere) bouce from reality to reality, making sure that things happen the way they are supposed to. Or are they pawns in a larger game?

And, this last one is just an idea i had while pondering "Why do all temporal incursions come from the future?"

It starts out rather usual: Temporal anomallies appear, followed by attacks on nearby ships by unkown vessels. Then, a huge disrupion occures, and a tremendous ship appears. The aliens on it announce that they are the __(insert cool evil sounding name here)_____, and that this was once their space. They have come to the future to reclaim what was once theirs, but any race that wishes to serve them may become a vassal race, after they prove their worth.

Checks of records of archeological digs of the region they claim show that once a very technolgicaly advance race did exist there. But legends from races in the area tell of a great race of demons that ruled through fear and death. But they were betrayed by their slaves and almost destroyed. What was left disappeared, but when the time is right, they will return to revenge themselves.

Federation diplomats fear that with many races weakend by the Dominion War, and with a few feeling slighted by the larger powers, that some might just take these aliens up on their offer. The chilling footnote to it all is their first task it to destroy all life on one planet in 'their territory'; but the sentient race that lives there is currently in a medivel period: What could such powerful creatures fear from such simple people?

Love these ideas. Just one suggestion for that one :

These people could also have been rescued from certain death or death itself (drowning in a shipwreck, slaughtered during a fight - but still revivable with enough technology, and so on). This could make them less eager to go home, depending on how they were supposed to die, but of course doesn't prevent them from wanting to try...
