Thread: New Series/Story Arc idea

    Hey LUG!!!

    *RED ALERT*
    *EVENT HORIZON SPOILERS*

    Yeah I agree with you.

I felt kinda robbed at the end because I wanted to see where the ship had been. But I liked the premise alot.

In my game, when the Constitution Class Starship ran the subspace test and was sucked into another Universe, I had that Universe have an anger effect on the crew so that they killed each other. When each person died their spirit went into the ship until finally, the ship became alive.

But as for Event Horizon, I thought it had a lot of promise, it just failed to deliver in the end (at least for me.)

But overall I loved the movie!!!

If Matt Damon is going to be Captain Kirk, does that mean Ben Affleck is gonna be Mr. Spock?

It didn't show where, since in horror if the horror is explained it becomes a science story.

If the horror is never explained, it just lurks out there, as a pre-set condition of the universe, that this THING exists, and must be dealt with at random, and when it shows up it kills an awful lot of people with no remorse, and can potentially return again, to threaten the balance of good and evil, whenever it wants to. Thus no safe place = horrific.

Witness TOS - The planet killer. It's this big thing that eats planets, from long ago and far away. It gets killed, but another could come back.

Next Gen - The Borg DID fulfill this role, until Picard revealed all their inner secrets and Next gen writers screwed the pooch by making hugh friendly and Voyager worse by putting the silver clad token hormone energizer in the crew.

    DS9 - take your pick.

Call of Cthulu - These creepshow characters are another deep space / long time / ages ago menace.

7th Sea Cyrnith artifacts, the same.

Most serial killer films do this too, but in a blunt, workmanlike way.

Andromeda Strain was a good example of this, until they mutated the thing to a safe strain. pfft.

Well I've started the background for the series. Here's what I have so far.

    Star Trek: Leviathan

    Year: 2288

The genesis device is detonated in the Mutara Nebula in 2285. Part of the make of the device was proto-matter. This matter sundered the barrier between this reality and of a plane inhabited by the old ones. Greatest among these old ones is Leviathan. He had been asleep for millions of years only interacting with mortals by their dreams. Most eventually went insane. But a select few survived these dream messages and were able to make direct contact. Those contacted formed a religious sect called “The church of revelations”. Leviathan granted “True Believers” with powers never seen before but also marked them as his. Each believer has a mark, a barbed circle that appears when they accept Leviathan. It always appears on one of the hands or the head. Always in a visible spot.

Leviathan entered our reality and was briefly entombed in the planet formed by the genesis device. But when Captain Kirk and co. returned to Genesis planet it was Leviathan freeing himself that was destroying the planet not the proto-matter as believed by doctor Marcus. Unbeknownst to the people at the Genesis planet, when Leviathan arrived 20 million sentients went insane when their realities were shattered by his arrival. True Believers knew the instant of Leviathans arrive and began their journeys to be joined with their god. As for the souls driven into madness, their rebirth changed them. They still retained their basic skills, they lost all ability for rational thought. Replacing it were the overriding desire to kill, rape, murder, and eat. All they knew now was violence, and they sought it out. The only ones safe were others like them unless they got in the way of each others desires.

The true believers settled on a planet that was untouched by the insane, now referred to as “Reavers”. This planet was untouched as Leviathan had inhabited it and Reavers wished to go no where near the presence that drove them insane. They brought the technology necessary to build ships and equipment they would need for their new lives dedicated to leviathan.
Duct tape is like The Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

Sounds a little like Star Trek V.
