Why are the secondary structures boxes and not another shape?

I wonder what it'd look like with 2 of the "dual torpedo" housings instead of 2 of the "single torpedo housings".

FWIW, I wonder what the notched hull would look like on the Ajax too.

I'm not sure what you mean? The original designer had four 'single-through' tubes on the lower hull, but two of them were obfuscated by the lower dome. with the remaining two, I took the Wilkerson's tube, flipped it, and attached it accordingly.

The first is the Jangwei, and the second is the Jiaxing.

Some minor changes and corrections, really just to make the fore and dorsal views possible. Also made the shuttle-bay ‘standard’ size.
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but this is a great pic and a wonderful upgrade of the Helena-class. This is going to see a lot of work in local games, if and when they happen.

Must stat this up someday in my copious unstructured free time.

    ô_o 'single-through'?

I meant that, isolated from the saucer, the two secondary hull bits are just... boxes. There's no connection with the shapes.

They're on small pylon structures, think of a missile-connection on a modern fighter.

The connection looks ok, but the overall shape of the structures are just... boxes.
