Well, if you go by the "Star Trek: Titan" books, there's a region of space occupied by a large variety of the kinds of spacefaring life forms seen in many a TNG Episode, including fleets of the "Star Jellies" as seen in "Encounter at Farpoint," and various types of Crystalline Entity. Also asteroid-shaped creatures that eat worlds, among others. It also harbors a union of 3 races who act as "whalers" and serve to keep the life form populations down.
