    Client Klingon Races

Besides those seen in Star Trek VI, what Klingon client races are there? What is the Federation's diplomatic status in regards to them? What is the opinion of the Federation of species, currently under Klingon Administration, and their right to self determination? Are they considered like how either the US or Canada considers Native American Tribes (which diffir significantly by my understanding), or are they more like a colonial era african colony?

I am curious because I suggest in another thread for a potential threat species, is that maybe during the 1-2 year period where the Klingons openly attacked Federation and Cardassian Shipping when they walked away from the Khitimor Accords, that maybe Starfleet Intellegence, as well as the intersteller relations arm of the Federation might have supported a self-determination bid during that period. This in the light that the KE & Fed/Cardassian forces were in open conflict . . . possibly along the entire Fed/KE border. And if the Federation did support self determination . . . either openly . . . but more likely, clandesticly . . . how would this effect Fed/KE border tensions which are already strained. Furthermore, if Starfleet wasn't fully briefed on the actions of clandestic support, or atleast one ship, how would a Starfleet ship react in response to an insurgency vessel attack on a third party vessel, or on a KE merchant marine vessel.

I very much suspect that even if they are extremely unhappy with their plight ( assuming it's bad?!) The Federation would likely not have the power to interfere, except for it's diplomatic efforts. It isn't really how the Federation operates to send in a 'humanitarian' invasion force, to liberate species

That said I suspect that many of the conditions of the various treaties include improved rights for those client races, because the Klingons stood to gain a lot from the Federation during the treaty era!

From what we've seen in TOS, i suspect the Klingons operate under a satrapi system, wherein Klingon-loyal groups of locals enforce order on behalf of the Empire.

This means that, theoretically, there could be some wiggle room in dealing with the Federation and standards of life on subject worlds, but it would be full of complicated economic considerations and crap.
