But the template Is already in LUG ICON format, I have not yet managed to find the time to turn it into Spacedock...

    Ohhh, is my face red.

I thought it was a little short for SD ship, like I side before I don't really pay attention to SD ships. Only what I think is worth converting. Well, less work for me then.

    Again good design.

I have a question, and since it doesn't really fit into any other thread I will post it under my own...that way no one gets upset. Also, it bumps this thread to the top again as well.

Ok, here's the question...Did the Sao Paolo (ie "new" Defiant) have a cloak put on it once it took up station on DS9? Or was the original a one shot deal?

A message for Aedh Rua, if you are still haunting this board?

Could you come up with the Romulan for Warwolf?

    Thanks.

Officially? Never mentioned. However the writers of the new DS9 series of books were faced with this very question and with an absence of an official answer have said that 'Yes, the Defiant-A is fitted with a cloaking device'.

However according to the treaty, the cloak was on loan, for the Defiant to gather intelligence on the Dominion for the Romulans.

So it can also be said that there was no need for the Sao Paulo to be fitted with a cloak.

In the end, the answer is up to you!

Oh, I am still out here, just very busy with the new job. So, warwolf......

Well, the word for war is "akh". That is true in most Golic and non-Golic Vulcan languages, and also in Romulan. The problem is that Vulcan has no modern word for wolf. "Kren-tu" was the Vulcan equivalent of the wolf, but the Kren-tu is now extinct.

It seems awfully likely that the Kren-tu went extinct before the Vulcan Reformation, since pacifist vegetarians make notoriously poor hunters. This would mean that the Kren-tu was already extinct when the early Romulans headed for the stars.

Still, it is the only word we have, so we might assume that the Romulans called whatever local wolflike carnivore existed a wolf. Certainly, humans have often done this, as witness all of the North American species called by Old World names.

Kren-tu, when it undergoes the Romulan Sound Shift becomes Khranto. So we have Akh'khranto, or perhaps Khranto t'Akh, which actualy means "Wolf of War", not quite the same thing, but very close.

    Hope that helps!

    Multi-purpose post:
    1) Help keep near top

    2) Phantom, i've just -finally- regained access to a computer and wasn't able to get in touch with yer store owning friend. I'll post here or mail you when I get around to setting up an e-mail account. Sorry fer any trouble, let me take this oppurtunity to flame Compaq >

    3) My campaign has taken a somewhat different turn than I was hoping and I was wondering if anybody knew anywhere here or on another site where I could find a good many Romulan ship designs. Couldn't think of anywhere else to ask this. Don't care if they're Spacedock or original-ICON (I can always convert) though SD is preferred. I've done up a few but would like to save myself unnescessary work, especially with having to design a Ktarian Pirate Ship and other interesting targets... errrr ships.

    Aedh Rua
Thanks for the translation. I thought it would make a good name for a Rom ship, it was what Edward Long Shanks called a Trebuchet that had been designed for him...it was somewhat larger and more powerful then the usual model. Thanks again.

    Thanatos

Good to hear from you again!

    1) I thank you for the bump to top.

    2) Flame ahead I will join you, I will never buy from Compaq again! After my last computer.

3)Campaigns tend to do that. I don't have SD designs, but there are new designs in the Way of D'era for LUG, if you let me know what type of ship you are looking for I could post it. Also, I think it was Dan Gurden posted a Romulan Escort-class he designed, its on the boards here somewhere. Plus I have been meaning to do some designs my self in the near future...just have to find the time.

I did, and heres the link to the appropriate thread. Its in ICON and has not yet been translated into spacedock... But what can I say, I am good at species and careers not spaceships.

    http://216.40.212.6/Board/ubb/Forum7/HTML/001018.html

    I also made a spacedock version of the Romulan shuttle (Not the 3 deck monstrosity in Way of D'era), returning it to the equivalent of a Runabout in size. This can be found here;

Dan, that escort was pretty much ideal for what I needed. I'm going to have plenty'o'fun with it

Phantom, as for any designs you make I look forward to seeing them. I'm hammering out a few bugs on some of my own in SD (what do you mean I'm over by 1000 SU?!?!?) so I'll put those up when I'm done (if I finish, that is). Right now I have a slightly over-powered Romulan Colony Ship (dunno if trek uses those, but i certainly do), a mid-large gunship, and Romulan Fast Attack Ship (fer post Dominion War games). Let me know if any strike yer fancy and I'll finish it up a bit quicker.

Anyhoo, still working out the details of my e-mail access with my new roomate so I should have an addy to give you in a day or two things would be soooo much easier if the government would just issue e-mail addies like street addresses

Thanks again fer the ships, Dan, much obliged, and talk to joo all laterz

Could someone direct me to where I can view the sketches and renders mentioned? I can't seem to track them down.

I just e-mailed you the Romulan copy of the Defiant, I think. Let me know if you received it. I have three other sketches that have been sent to me as well, if you would like them I don't think there will be a problem.

I can see how you beat Styro so fast and hit the 1000 mark

Didn't know you had a Romulan thread tucked away here.

Whats the topic in general, tech? Or Romulans in general?

It did help, but only a tiny bit.

The discussion is about any and all things Romulan. If you check previous posts we have someone who has done a lot of work hammering out the Romulan language, take a bow AR. Plus there are a few ship designs and one or two adventure ideas floating around.

We deal primarily with the Romulans as seen on the shows, but we are not opposesed to a Rhiannsu (is that spelled right? Don't have time to check.) fans sounding off as well, don't think we have yet though.

If you have anything you wish to discuss about the Romulans Sig, please post away.
