Question about the TOS core book

For those of you who have or have seen it, does the LUG TOS core book cover the TOS movie era as well, or just the original series?

Pretty much sticks to the series (with a FEW notes about the 2270s, but not much). There's a 'fanon' guide out there that covers the movies for ICON, though.

This boards user Evan van Eyke has written a Movie Era Sourcebook for ICON.
Once again this file is located over at Owen's Memory Icon site, at the Netbook section of the main page. Click on "Movie Era Sourcebook" for a 57 pages pdf file with the title "once more into the breach".

Oh, nice. I hadn't seen that before. I've been to Memory Icon, but missed that sourcebook. Thanks for the link.

You're welcome. But the actual thanks should go to the authors of the great netbooks. Check out the other items at the netbook page as well. There are hidden treasures there, useful for nearly all sorts of ICON Trek game.

Speaking of the TOS core book, is there anything in it to recommend a purchase that isn't already covered in the TNG or DS9 books, other than it being set in the TOS era?

The history of the Federation/Starfleet stuff at the front of the book is tailored to the TOS-era, obviously, and the starship and technology info is also tailored to the setting. I think there are a couple of new (or different) advantages and maybe even a different skill or two. And the "narrator" chapters are also era-specific. So, yes, there is quite a bit to make a buy worthwhile. No major rules changes or anything like that, though.

It's my personal favourite of the three core books -- in terms of the layout and style capturing the feel of classic trek.

Huh, sounds good. I guess it can't go wrong for $6.99 + shipping.

You should definately feel safe, taking this kind of 'risk'. I know I would do it, but as I already have one... It's all yours.

Great deal, go for it! I know it's not on eBay though -- I've been searching to add one or two copies to my ICON collection. Unless my eBay-fu is weak this week.
