It's a beautiful thing, though there are bits I don't like about it, I definitely like the new deflector array

I'd love to actually get a good look at it in some stills. What I see of it in the movie montage, though, is very nice.

EDIT: Okay, found some stills. Yeah, I think I'm liking what I see. Wonder if Abrams commissioned some of these, or if it's just a labor of love after working on Enterprise....

A brave little theory, and actually quite coherent for a system of five or seven dimensions -- if only we lived in one.

The only thing I'm pretty sure I don' t like is the cowling on the end of the nacelles; it seems a little long to me, but I think that's mostly a matter of taste. I like the reinforced look of the nacelle pylons; they go well with those bloody massive nacelles. ("Hi; we've got way more ooomph than the original designers foresaw, so I hope you made those things plenty tough.")

    What bits don't you like?

Oh I'm a member of SFM and I've seen tonnes of frames of it from all sorts of angles. Yes from the underside and front it does look a work of art, and I can't denigh the fact the guy makes it feel epic and movie quality, but the design breaks down on the undercut at the back, and he rear back of the secondary hull, the rear top of the saucer, and the back part of the neck just don't work for me... basically it suffers a little from the Enterprise D problem that it just doesn't work from a couple of angles! Some of the details don't quite work for me either, but I can't remember them all.

Suffice it to say it is bloody good, but it's got issues!

The design originally appeared in the Ships of the Line Calendar. Didn't like it then, don't like it now.

BTW, in case people don't know, Gabriel K. is the young chap from Trekkies and Trekkies 2 - he was 14 in the first movie, the guy who was trying on his nerw convention costume and who got "the phone call."

For me, I find the engineering hull a bit busy, but I really like the saucer and nacelle structures.

If that's their vision for the new movie Enterprise, I'm geeked. She's a thing of beauty.

Yeah, I can see that, and agree a bit; it could be a little less...I dunno, chunky in places. For the most part, though, I'm pretty positively inclined by this.
