    Nice write up . . . they're like deuterium coffins strapped onto a photon torpedo tubes . . . and with no shields to boot . . . man, sucks to be the pilots of those things.

    Well they do have some sort of shielding tech but I haven't figured out how they work or what they really are. You see the Andromeda take hit after hit without so much as a serious scratch on the hull. I'm thinking that it is something like a polerized Hull plating or a second skin shielding system or deflection technology. I'm still going through the Bonus material in the DVD set as their is something like fifty discs and each disk has bonus features on it. these are rough out lines of the ships. I'll be finishing them up when I get the rest of the information rounded up.

    I would agee that unshielded ships would make the pilot spam in a can such as an Imperial TIE Fighter from the Star Wars of movies series. Low powered shielding would make a good adition as suchas the following.

    No Shields - almost any damage will cripple it on the spot- if it is not destroyed outright.
    Omega have you considered to slap some kind of Armor on the capital ship at least? So it won't get critical damage each time it is hit.
    On the other hand Andromeda was not my taste so my knowlede on the tech there is sketchy at best. Your writeup leaves not much space for armor anyway.

    Battle Blades… this is the defensive system for the Andromeda. This is a group of finger like things that slide out from the struts. I believe that they project an EM shielding field.

    This is the shielding I would like to put on the Andromeda Ascendant but it goes well over the SU’s that the ship can handle. Generally I don’t allow any more than 5% over the max SU’s unless there is a really good reasons and that is the specialty designs such as the Reman Warbird and such.

    I realized that I did not put a ship wide Holographic system, Hydroponics and a catapult lauch system with a recovery system for the Auxiliary Spacecraft systems.

    In many ways the Commonwealth ships are superior to that of the Federation yet they lack in many other area's such as tractor beam tech and transporters, replicators. These ships are radically differnt in thier designs and function but they are similar in the goverment uses.

    It's raining here and I decided to finish out the Andromeda Ascendant in all her glory. She's like a lot of the other cannon versioned ships takes more SU points than there is. Later on I will work on either the original or reimaged version of the Battlestar Galactica.

    The Artifical Inteligence is a revamped AI from the Cardassian Sourcebook's Dreadnought warship/torpedo thing.

    Not to burst your bubble, but the point of Spacedock is to be able to build a ship . . . but be able to provide balance while building. Tobain use to ride me about going over the SU limit, and now I must point this fact out to you as well.

    Although the write up is good . . . I wonder what you would have to reduce to bring your ship within the SUs . . . otherwise . . . of course they will always out match something from the Star Trek Universe . . . they will be able to fit more in less space, every single time.

    I tried to keep it as close to being the cannon from the series without going over but keeping it cannon does not always agree with the Spacedock form. This ship does work better in ICON better than Spacedock as I sketched out some of the details with ICON.

    another thing i noticed is there is an episode that talks of a nano repair system that would be alot like the Borg ship regeneration, think it was the one that introduced The Wrath of Achilles cant remember which season it was in tho

    Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm on Season 3 of the Andromeda boxed set and I've heard them at least twice order to load Missle Tubes One through Two Hundred. I'm not up on the SU issue atm, but i think this ship is way more heavily armed that what I've read here. Your 40 launchers with a spread of 2 is only 80 missiles in the air.

    It is more heavily armed but to keep it some what with in the Spacedock relm or grounded I had to drop some of the weapons and add in what I could to each launcher could fire. There are only so many SU's avalable in the game. When I get a moment I will post the notes I made before cronstructing the Andromeda.

    Just pointing out. Probably only way to do it is some kind of launcher vs spread multiplier, if at all.

    Yes and no.

    if you look at the first disc of the Andromeda there is a ships notes there. That is where I made my notes from to get the basic lay out then modified it to make the ship that you see here.
