I just noticed something weird. Is there not a way to KO an opponent (such as with unarmed combat) without having to punch them to "near death?"

Actually, I just received my Starfleet Operations Manual, Starships, Aliens, Creatures and Narrator's Screen in the mail yesterday.
And I found all that good stuff in the Operations Manual just moments ago!

yeah this was somewhat of an omission, that only phasers and Vulcans could knock anyone unconscious, good thing they addressed that in the SOM
