Post What is you favorite drinking song?

When you're in the bar/pub, there always seems to be a song that you always sing along with. What is it?

In my case, it's The Devil Went Down to Georgiaby the Charlie Daniels Band.

I think I see the seeds of the next Dave Biggins Adventure (tm).

From college I have memories of a dozen super-senior engineers singing "Piano Man" at a local tavern. Trying real hard to kill that memory though...

    Drinking songs, eh?

    "Johnny Jump Up"

The "Tiddley, Beer" Song. (If you've ever heard it, you know it!)

    "Take Her in Your Arms"

"Ramblin' Rover"... now there' a great song...

    "There are sober men a'plenty,
    and drunkards barely twenty.
There are men of over ninety,
who have never ye' kissed a girl!
But give me a ramblin' rover,
And march me down to Dover.
We will roam the county over,
And together we'll face the world!"

I have others... I'll share more after I sober up

    Hugh

I guess that the all-time popular Australian drinking/pub song would be Khe Sanh, by Cold Chisel...

I can't remember the group, or the name of the song(I think it's done by Spirit of the West) but it goes like this. . . . (humming a few bars)
You'll have to excuse me I'm not at my best
I've been gone for a week and I've been drunk since I left.
These so-called vacations will soon be my death
I'm so sick from the drink I need home for a rest.
(then it kicks it up a notch and really takes off).
I was introduced to that song by one of my alcoholic friends back in the late eighties, and it has been a favorite ever since.

Sounds like a Country & Western song to me...didn't the ute break down and the dog die in that one also?

Actually the song is more celtic. Becuase the next line is "We left in December and London was cold, So we stayed in the bars along Charing Cross road. . . ."

    Definetly not a C&W song.
(The last time I listened to a C&W song was with the ex-wife. One of those murder or suicide situations )

    Cool

Personally, I like the classics, such as "Waltzing Matilda"

But, then any song will do as long as the alcohol lasts.
